Was very excited to try City Gourmet for carry out today. It is difficult to tell that they are open, but they were. They’re not getting a lot of traffic yet, so now is a great time to go try it out without a long wait.
Everyone we talked to was very friendly and accommodating.
My daughter ordered the California rolls and my son and I split a poke bowl. This was our first experience with pokey and the person taking our order walked us through every step very patiently. My daughter enjoyed watching her sushi being made. We all loved the food and my daughter declared it the best California roll she’s ever had. The poke bowl was very good with just the right amount of delicious sauce and lots of shrimp.
I was very impressed with the atmosphere. Having been to both previous restaurants that occupied this space, I couldn’t believe how they completely transformed it without doing any structural changes. Though we did not see the restrooms, the main dining area was classy, but comfortable and very clean. I will definitely return to sample some of the other items.

I feel sad, but obligated to share – not to dissuade people from trying this place out, but to hopefully help improve what could be something decent to finally do well in this building.
Food: not palatable. I spit it out & threw it away. I do not recommend the steak. If “steak & sushi” is in your title, those should be the star. My steak was…off. Spoiled tasting & way under cooked. I did order med-rare, which should be pink in the middle.
Service: accommodating & willing to fix the issue. Offered to remake my meal. They did not offer my money back, but I also did not ask. I felt too bad even calling up there. I opted out of remaking my steak, it didn’t make sense if the meat was “off”, it would be the same outcome.
Portion vs Cost: a little on the high side – $53 & $30 went into the trash.
I do not believe I will return.
I hope this establishment does do well. It’s a nice change and interesting concept.

I’m sorry, I do not leave negative reviews, but this food was atrocious. First off I ordered the Las Vegas roll and the first photo is what I received…. The worst sushi I have ever had. My best friend got the shrimp avocado roll, and it was also lack luster. My husband and his best friend for the gourmet burger. They ate half, and couldn’t eat the rest. The mysterious “special sauce” is just translucent mayonnaise. Extremely unappetizing. The Crab Rangoon was the best by far, but would also only give a 5/10. It was all dough and barely any filling. The only thing that was great was the customer service. I am so sorry to have to leave this review, but I am just being honest. A waste of $88.

The Pan-Sautéed Salmon with Honey Garlic was so so good, and lasted me for three meals!
The Rib-eye cut was “ok,” but prepared well and paired with the mushroom sauce really made the meal.
The Banana Foster was YUMMY

There was only two people in the restaurant serving and preparing the food. It took over a half hour closer to 40 minutes to get one sushi roll and poke bowl. The restaurant only had a few customers in at this time. The sushi was just average. It smelled like something was burning in the restaurant while we’re there and gave an awful smell. One thing I can say is don’t offer 9 Piece Sushi and I give 8 pieces.

I had the crab Rangoon appetizer, which were made fresh. They came out fresh and hot, and the dipping sauce was very good!
I ordered the ribeye with mushrooms and a chef created mushroom gravy that I thoroughly enjoyed!
Overall the place hit all the marks for me, the staff was great, the vibe in the restaurant was welcoming and everything was modern fresh and new, and the food fresh and tasty.

I really liked the food. I had the California Masago and Los Vegas rolls. I also had the small poke bowl. The ahi tuna and crab salad with my choices on arugula I chose spicy mayo and citrus ponzu for my sauces, which was fantastic! I love that there was an option for the arugula. The service was top notch and that comes from 27 years in the food service industry. I will definitely be back!

Me and my S/O decided to try this place out, I was skeptical at first but the food was delicious it all had plentiful of flavor and the presentation was nice as well, you can tell the chef took pride in their efforts. I ordered the 11oz ribeye with mashed potatoes and asparagus it came with a gravy that was pretty tasty too!

My husband and I came here on a whim, and boy what a good decision that was! The restaurant is new and has a classically trained chef. They also have sushi and Poke bowls, which we will have to try next time! The ambiance is nice, and the whole place is very clean.
