Stopped by The City Creamery in Rome hoping for a cool treat, but the inside of the store was surprisingly warm, which took away from the ice cream shop vibe. Several of the ice cream machines were out of order, limiting the flavor options. A police officer was stationed inside keeping watch, which was a bit unexpected and added to an odd atmosphere. The store and restrooms could definitely use a deep clean.
On the positive side, the décor is fun and creative, giving the place a quirky charm, and there’s a great selection of unique candy options you don’t find everywhere. With some maintenance, better cleanliness, and working equipment, this could be a much more enjoyable stop.

Fantastic, family-friendly spot with great sweets and a warm atmosphere. Our visit was wonderful, but the jukebox taking my money and not providing music in return was a small disappointment. Still, we’ll be back for the delicious treats and cozy vibes!

The fudge ice cream….yum! The superman flavor is the kids favorite as well as our puppy Marshmallow’s! The candy selection is supreme!!! All the old favorite candies and all the new too! The atmosphere is candy shop meets old school record store, with games in the back. The guys working the counter were so friendly and polite too! ❤️ It!

City Creamery is so cute and nostalgic, plus they have lots and lots of menu options for frozen treats and specialty drinks. There are also tons of old fashioned classic candies there and a wide selection of novelty sodas…even a record bin full of vinyl you can purchase. I’m pretty sure I also saw record players for sell there….fun place!!
Additionally, the building was formerly occupied by the historic Rivoli Theatre, which was Rome’s oldest picture house, owned and operated by my great-grandfather, OC Lam, Sr since 1916. City Creamery has several items of memorabilia from the theater on display, which adds a nice touch.
I don’t know why I didn’t take photos of our treats, but they were very tasty! I had frozen yogurt with toppings. My daughter had hand scooped ice cream, and my husband had a root beer float. All were high quality and delicious! The employees were helpful and kind, and the shop was spotless.

We stopped in here Saturday night for ice cream and it was busy with lots of folks who had the same idea! We were able to order our ice cream after waiting a couple of minutes. The peanut butter cup ice cream was well worth the wait. The peanut butter cups weren’t whole; instead the chocolate and peanut butter were distributed throughout the vanilla ice cream base, which was excellent. From what others in our group said, the ice cream was great all around.

Very cool spot!
I was surprised to see how many different things there were at the story from a juke box to arcade games, unique drinks and ice cream along with other odds and ends.
