Had an amazing experience with my wife. Stephen greated us like an old friend and made us feel at home. And micheal our waiter was super helpful and polite when it came to the food. They were very attentive and made sure our first visit was a memorable one! I had the lasagna and my wife the beef chipotle wrap and couldn’t have been happier or satisfied. Im eagarly looking forward to trying all they have to offer. We definitely found another one of our go to sit downs.

First time visit, I was looking to support a local business and found this gem. I had the fried flounder sandwich and loved it. Bread was soft and toasty . Fish was well seasoned and crispy. Tartar sauce delicious not strong. Potato salad was flavor-full and was a savory balance to go with the sandwich. Will defiantly be coming back. Thank you Alyssa for suggesting this dish and the amazing service! Will definitely be back!

We stopped by spontaneously to celebrate a friend’s birthday and were so glad we did. The owner Stephen was welcoming. He came right over to greet us with a down to earth vibe and great energy. He even checked in on us throughout the meal, which made us feel like regulars on our first visit.
Our waitress was also friendly and helpful with menu suggestions. We ordered the meatloaf, grilled steak medallions, and the chipotle beef wrap. The wrap was so good!
I’ll definitely be coming back to try more dishes. The excellent service alone is reason enough to return. Great food, great vibes, and genuine hospitality.

My wife had their fettuccine alfredo with shrimp and she loved it. I tried some of it and it was very good. You can tell that they make a lot of their products in-house. The food tasted fresh and had plenty of good flavor. I had their burger with parmesan truffle fries and it hit the spot. The service was excellent and we were offered free appetizer samples once they heard it was our first time there. We will definitely be coming back.

Great ambience, fresh made food and wonderful first class service. Had the opportunity to try their Shrimp Po Boy, and crispy Brussels, with potato salad. Also was told their chicken noodle soup is the best, and hands down, it is! You can’t find another freshly made chicken noodle soup anywhere in the region!
Everything is fairly priced and you are getting great value with the high quality of food you’re being served!

We recently revisited City Café, a charming establishment we hadn’t frequented in years, and were warmly welcomed by the owner, Steve, whose gracious hospitality set the tone for a delightful evening. He expertly crafted us a pair of exquisite margaritas, each bursting with vibrant flavor. Opting for the evening’s special, we savored bacon cheeseburgers that were nothing short of phenomenal—juicy, perfectly seasoned, and masterfully prepared. The staff’s friendliness and courteous service further elevated our experience, while the inviting ambience, with its tasteful decor and relaxed atmosphere, created a truly memorable dining experience. We eagerly anticipate our return to City Café.

We stopped by City Cafe on a whim and were honestly blown away. The atmosphere, service, and food were all top-notch, and it was a refreshing change of pace for us while visiting McAllen. We loved the Southwest pasta, the guacamole, and the desserts, everything was excellent. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and they even went out of their way to make our baby feel welcome, which meant a lot to us. All around a great experience. This is officially our go-to spot whenever we’re in town.

I ordered the Santa Fe pasta with chicken. It did not quite meet the expectations I had. However, I understand that portion size and flavor vary from person to person. I don’t believe I ordered from a “lunch” menu = smaller portion size. But maybe I did without knowing. So, I will assume I did. The amount of chicken was minimal. I did hope for more. My colleagues loved their choices. Service was perfect. Atmosphere was perfect. I will return for sure.

I was on a job here in Edinburg with a crew of 25 and unable to go home for Thanksgiving.
I had initially planned to take the crew to Luby’s or Cracker Barrel for Thanksgiving Dinner but was warned of the extensive wait involved in these options.
We began looking for a Catering Option and found City Café. Unfortunately, we discovered that we were about 2 hours past the cut-off for ordering. Explained to Stephen what was going on, and he took our order anyway.
This was the best catered Thanksgiving Dinner that I have ever had. It was better than almost all of the Home-Cooked Thanksgiving Dinners that I have had. Mine excluded of course.
This dinner was seriously delicious. Even the turkey had its own wonderful flavor. It did not need anything to accompany it. But the things that did accompany it were as delicious as the turkey.
Not only that, but the Tuesday Lasagna he sold me when I went in to make the order was absolutely fantastic.
Every person I met in Stephen’s establishment was friendly and outgoing. They made me feel right at home.
I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Please go here and enjoy what they prepare.
