If you’re in the Utica/Whitesboro area and gluten‑free matters, the City Café is worth a stop. Their dedicated gluten‐free kitchen and bakery make it possible to enjoy take‑out with confidence, and my recent experience confirms it.
I picked up a hot panini sandwich for take‐out and drove about 20 minutes home — by the time I got there the bread still held together rather than collapsing or turning into mush. That alone speaks volumes about their ingredient and build quality. On top of that, I treated myself to two cookies: a nostalgic half‐moon cookie (a childhood favorite) and a double chocolate‐chunk cookie. Both were delicious — the half‐moon brought back memories, and the chocolate chunk was soft, rich and not grainy (which can be a real concern with gluten‐free baked goods).
The staff were pleasant and welcoming, which added to the positive experience. They were friendly and tidy, though I did notice a moment of uncertainty when asked about the origin of the burger buns — the staff knew they were gluten‐free from another bakery but couldn’t identify exactly which one. That’s a minor thing but worth noting.
The café itself is clean, well‐maintained, and conveniently located. It’s rare to find a spot where you can truly trust that “everything on the menu” is gluten‐free and prepared in a dedicated kitchen and bakery — and this place delivers on that front.
In short: Highly recommended for anyone looking for a worry‑free, gluten‑free sandwich + baked goods stop in the area. I’ll be going back.

For our wedding, my wife and I ordered a cake and blondie brownies for dessert through City Cafe, all Gluten Free and so amazingly delicious. The cake was three different flavors and our middle layer was gone immediately, people kept taking slices home with them too. Finding safe Gluten Free desserts that are moist, decadent, and fluffy is really rare for us, so we’re over the moon that City Cafe baked some tasty treats for our reception. Thank you so much!

A very clean and welcoming environment the customer service is great very kind and friendly. The food is absolutely delicious. It’s always hit or miss with gluten and dairy free products but I honestly could not tell the difference at all. The portions are very generous, which is great and the prices are also very reasonable. Overall, I would highly recommend City Café. Nothing better than eating food and feeling good after eating. It is nice having a place locally that offers gluten and dairy free food.

The place was very clean, including the restroom. The service was fast. We ordered the haddock fish with fries and coleslaw. Everything was very tasty! The only thing I didn’t like was that the fish had too much breading and was a little salty for me. But it’s not a big deal — I would still go back!

LOVED this place! What an honestly adorable little spot! The inside was so cute, cozy, and such great decor. While we were there, the woman on the cash register was seriously SO sweet. Very welcoming, friendly, and overall, it just gave such a sweet & kind vibe.
My fiancé & I got the chicken sandwich & pesto chicken panini, soup special (potato bacon soup), two cupcakes (lemon lavender & cookie dough), plus I got two cookies from the fridge before we left.
Everything was SO good. The cupcakes were soft & perfect. The lemon lavender had an amazing lemon taste & perfect texture. I got the chocolate chunk cookie before leaving, and it was definitely one of the best gluten-free cookies I’ve ever had! I was hard to tell. Everything was even gluten & dairy free!
We will absolutely be visiting again when we are in the area! This place was great for a quick bite to eat, sit down & relax. The vibe of the entire place was so welcoming & I loved it!

Nice atmosphere inside. All the food is gluten free and the rolls, breads and sweets are homemade. Food is good but the out the door expense is more than you are expecting to pay. It’s not a full dine-in experience. You order at the register and bus your own table, similar to a fast food restaurant. One negative is that they don’t have any condiments at the table. If you want, ketchup, hot sauce etc., you have to pay for a very small cup full. If you like ketchup with your fries and/or burger, bring your own bottle. They also only sell a small variety of canned sodas and bottled water and that is pricey. Overall, the food is good but plan on ordering takeout from there and you will save money.

Great for allergies and vegan, vegetarian, soy free, gluten free, healthy, plus meat dishes and wines and desserts all gluten free I believe. I don’t have those strict needs but I love the place. Talk about filling yet light, fresh but not bland. Though some sauce options for the foods would be nice to add extra flavor for those that aren’t watching every calorie. I love the hummus veggie wrap, the house chips are pretty great, and the vegan mac n cheese was pricey until you see the portion & quality and flavor. Not the cheapest but worth the price especially for those with allergies or that are super healthy wanting to dine out in a nice place. Cozy nice place. And even through being busy they show they care about each customer experience. Highly recommended and will be back more than the twice I’ve been so far.

Wow. What an amazing meal. The best burger I have ever had since needing to be gluten free. And the deserts… chefs kiss. We live over an hour away and I will gladly travel there again. 10/10.
