Here on a work trip! I was walking this whole shopping center and this suite was on my list to inspect for the owners of the center. Once I was done working I decided to come back by this restaurant City Barbecue. All the typical BBQ favorites. Nice flavors, great potato salad. Pulled Pork sandwich was piled high. Best decision I made today to stop in for a late lunch. Management is fantastic. Staff is friendly. Great atmosphere and rustic flare. I highly recommend this location at City Barbecue!

I live in Kansas City (and have lived there most of my life) and I’m a bit of a BBQ afficianado, so I know a thing or two about BBQ joints. As such, this place is not anywhere near my home. It’s north of Chicago.
Considering the finite capacity of my stomach, I haven’t been able to sample much from this place yet. But I have found the pork belly burnt ends to be delicious. Also, I had never heard of corn pudding before, so I was feeling adventurous enough to try it. I’m glad I did. I think I love that stuff.
So the pork belly burnt ends were juicy and tender with a sweet honey-based glaze that really went well with them. None of the BBQ sauces that you can add to a little cup were able to improve on the flavor over the honey glaze, so it’s probably best to eat them just as they come. At least that’s my opinion.
The corn pudding is really more like cornbread, but with actual kernels of corn in it, and significantly more moist than cornbread. It was almost like a sweet, moist, corn cake.
I was stuffed after that meal, so I ordered some banana pudding to go. Can’t wait to try it.
Plenty of parking. No dedicated motorcycle parking. Place was clean. Restroom was clean.
I will visit again next time I’m in town.

My husband and I were in town for our Anniversary and my birthday and decided to give City Barbecue a try! I got the smoked and fried wings, banana pudding, and a side salad. My husband tried the Cowboy and said that it was great!The wings were amazing!!! The salad was super fresh and the banana pudding was almost as good as mine! Lol The ambiance was quiet and enjoyable and the sauce variety was great! Will definitely be back!

Found this sweet spot by accident. The Cowboy brisket sandwich was great. My wife had the smoked and fried wings which also was great. They have a Tuesday special that sits right at home. “The St Louis style ribs” which I wanted to try but got full off the Cowboy and didn’t have room for them.
The side salad was all fresh veggies. None of that veggie in a bag premade salad you get from a lot of places.
The atmosphere is very relaxing and family friendly. A place to make sure I stop back by on our return trip.

If you are BBQ lover you will like this restaurant. The food is very tasty. Some non traditional drinks + soft traditional drinks. I choose the ” Judge Sampler” and I did not regretted.

First time and really enjoyed it. Good portions and pricing was reasonable. I like that there are choices when it come to sauces and you can taste them all and bring little cups to your table. The brisket sandwich was very good and a lot of meat. Good fries and hush puppies. I liked the baked beans too. I will come back to try the turkey and other items. You should try when you are in the area.

I am a very picky eater, but I had City BBQ twice in the past month, and I will definitely be back again, and again!!! I will especially be back to enjoy their Tuesday $2 Rib Bone special that was tender and tasty.
I could speak about the food endlessly, but the staff needs major commendations for being so patient and helpful with me. I couldn’t remember the name of the “Triple Que” which used to be called “Chiplotle Que.” Those young ladies took the time to ask me to describe the meet, and offered me samples, and eventually they helped me remember what I loved the first time I tried them out. They were so friendly and wanted to make sure I ordered what I wanted. They also informed how I can use the $5 discounts for future orders.
I tried City BBQ, for the first time last month, in an Uber Eats order. I loved the food so much, I just had to make sure everything was on-point in the restaurant. I thought the place was clean and organized, and made me feel comfortable about eating there. I was there on yesterday, Tuesday, December 16 around 2 or 3 pm, and I truly hope those young ladies know they really made my day!!! They offered amazing customer service, while serving juicy, tender ribs, tasty potato salad and samples of corn pudding and green beans that satisfy my picky tastebuds.

I’ve been coming here for some time since they opened and it has always been good, but today was some particularly good brisket and I had the pleasure of meeting the one who smoked it, Tatie. The only thing better than the food was her customer service and friendly demeanor. I will continue to go here for some of the best bbq in the area and if I’m lucky, Tatie will have worked her magic again! 10/10 would and will recommend.
