LarderRoom…My endless quest for the best chicken sandwich sent me to City Barbeque for the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich. I wouldn’t normally order a chicken sandwich when there is Smoked Sausage, Brisket & Ribs on the menu but I’m glad I did. I usually like my sandwich a little “hotter” but the spice was nice and it played well off the sweet coleslaw & crunchy pickle. Delicious sandwich! And next time I’m ordering the smoked Sausage (or two)!

Date night with the wife, and she let me pick. Man, I was looking forward to good BBQ. Got a half rack of ribs and smoked sausage. Both were on point. The disappointment came with the sides, baked beans and fries. Baked beans were WAY too sweet, and the fries were WAY too salty. This spoiled an otherwise good experience. Counter help did a good job and wait rime for our food was minimal. Woman keeping up on the housekeeping in the table area was polite and doing a good job. Just wish the side lived up to expectations.

We ordered on the phone and the man that was taking our order seemed like he couldn’t comprehend anything I was telling him. Just telling him what we wanted took about 10 mins. I got the smoked sausage on texas toast. I specifically asked multiple times to have no slaw on that. When I got it there was slaw and my bread was as soggy as could be. My boyfriend ordered the spicy chicken sandwich also with no slaw and they put slaw on it and that as well made his bread very soggy and just gross. We weren’t for sure on what to get for sides so we ordered about 6 of them and the sides alone were better than the main food and that’s the only reason I gave the food rating a 3/5.

Generally I have no issues at City BBQ. This experience was very different. I ordered to go via the app, and it was ready when I got there, so the service was excellent! I ordered the Ribs and Chicken combo, which was ok. The ribs were slightly dry, even with sauce. The mac and cheese tasted good, but the noodles were undercooked. We also ordered the fried ribs, which was like eating jerky. They were so dry and tough, which is probably a casualty of being fried, so I’ll take that as a lesson learned. The part we love the most, the Peach Cobbler, was quite possibly the worst I’ve ever had. I must have gotten the last corner of the last pan because it was so hard and dry I literally had to cut it with a knife to even taste it. On top of it being hard and chewy, there were no peaches in it. I’m sure I’ll be back because we love City BBQ, but this was our first time at this location after moving to the area from NC, and I hope this isn’t foreshadowing the way it will be every time.

This is not a brisket sandwich with Mac n Cheese and beans for sides or the pulled pork sandwich I also ordered with the same sides. This is two kids meals and a salad. As a loyal, lifelong City Barbecue customer, I was disappointed when they blamed the Uber Eats driver for the meal they gave him. The girl on the phone told me to pound sand and that it wasn’t their responsibility to make it right.
