This was a great stop for lunch, and as a Central Texan who enjoys good BBQ, this was a welcome surprise to find in New Mexico. The sausage and pulled pork were both fantastic, and my husband had the brisket and ribs and was equally as impressed. Good sides, and a peach iced tea made for a fantastic meal. My husband asked to see the smoker—and they obliged. Service, food, and even the sauces (which are great, but thankfully not needed) are worth recommending if you’re in the area.

As soon as we walked in a tall gentleman helped us right away. Gave us instructions on how to order and had us pick drinks. My elderly father needed to use the restroom and both gentleman working were quick to tell us where the restrooms are and both of them were polite and kind. Appreciated that!!! We ordered our food and the brisket was delicious. It wasn’t dry. And the BBQ sauce on the table was good. The potato salad and macaroni and cheese was delicious. I’d go again if I was in the area. My father had the turkey and he wished he had an order to go and talked about how good the food was the next day. He’s extremely picky so it says a lot when he can’t stop talking about the food.

Very laid back restaurant- 2 people total running the front and back. Quick friendly service… best of all, very tender brisket and turkey. Only “complaint” is the meats & sides could use a tiny bit more salt but i guess thats what salt shakers are for… otherwise… this place is good!

My wife and I stopped in here for lunch after a day of off roading and were quite impressed with the service and food quality. It’s such a small place I almost missed it when driving past, so keep an eye open when driving through. The brisket sandwich is on point with notes of hickory and a beautiful pepper bark. The mac-n-cheese is made with real cheese and has strings of cheese pulling away with every fork full. My wife got the pulled pork sandwich that was very moist and juicy with every bite. The sweet tea was refreshing and not overly sweet. Definitely make this a stop on your route, you won’t regret it.

I smoke my own meat every summer so I am a little picky when it comes to BBQ. Me and two friends stopped here for lunch on our way to Cloud Croft, NM, the service was prompt and friendly but the BBQ was nothing special; ribs were bland and I don’t believe they were smoked in house. The sides were good, potato salad and mac and cheese for sure

Poor quality. Beans were undercooked. The potato salad was in one word “yuk” . I’ve eaten here before but this time was not the best. If the owner reads these potato salad is not brown!!! And beans are not suppose to be hard after cooking.

AMAZING BBQ and service! Very professional and friendly staff. Great smoke flavor. We had ribs,brisket,sausage,pulled pork all on point. The mac m cheese was perfect and the cream corn is literally the best I have ever had! I even returned that same afternoon for more . Huge portions and fast service. A++++ will definitely be going back.

My husband and I passed here last weekend and there was a good little crowd. We stopped by here and I honestly was very pleasantly surprised. I really don’t understand how they don’t have a higher/more ratings. This is a no frills, counter style type of establishment for the most part but I got the BBQ Sandwich which was moist and the sauce was good. I ordered the Mac and cheese which was pretty good, just needed more salt in my opinion. My husband had the brisket and said it was very moist. There were two guys working there busting their humps to serve customers, bus tables, and wait on customers. We had a good experience and would eat here again!

Husband and I were in town for a romantic getaway. We were trying to decide what to eat and we came to Circle J to try the BBQ. We did not have high expectations because it is not Texas BBQ. We were very pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was very friendly and personal. The owner came over and talked to us and made sure we were satisfied. The food was delicious. We got plenty to eat. Thank you so much for the amazing food!
