Stopped by again TODAY ✅. My tres leche cake dessert comes also in chocolate , Oh My Goodness . I have to say you may notice in some of the pictures a little unique bracelet for a $1.99 and a Future Halloween ☠️ Dog (costume if the dog is willing). This particular dog loves Shenanigans . Not only was that bracelet a $1.99 but I purchased it right next door to the Salvation Army and the sale today was half off White tickets. Actually off all colored tickets except blue and furniture. FUN and Food .
I could totally feel the vibe of this place a mile away. What a comfortable cool place to take a load off. Today I had some flan , I am not sure if I pronounce that correctly but I know definitely what it is. I lived in Texas for a large portion of my life and I’m familiar with Tex-Mex. This is different however this I do believe is Venezuelan. If I have it wrong I apologize you’ll just have to stop and then figure it out for yourself .
Also I am almost positive but this restaurant also supports a food truck . When I leave here I’m going to peek out back and take a quick photo so you know what it looks like.

Well done intense-on-the-stomach Latin/Venezuelan fried food. Not for everyone.
I personally like it. It’s Fried food w a slightly unique twist. More starchy in a way I can’t put my finger on. And has something buttery or something extra to it.
Flavors are largely milder but not nothing. It’s not like mexican food w cilantro and onions, salsas and hot sauce. It’s subtler. Often includes lots of cheese and lightly seasoned creams. Meats seemed stewed, a little chewy, and seasoned to a smaller reasonable amount.
I can’t say it’s the healthiest stuff – and my stomach def feels ‘worked’ after eating it. My girlfriend personally can’t eat a lot as it upsets her stomach. But this is fried indulgent food. This isn’t health super foods here.
The vibe on the inside is nice and simpler. Has some pizaz and fun to it, but generally is less frills.
Service has always been cordial and patient. I like the folks inside.
Overall this is a great restaurant to have in the city. While it’s not something you likely want all the time – it’s a nice unique treat when you want some sit-in-your-stomach indulgent less healthy food. It clearly feels like their own thing that they do well, and it’s v welcome in the city.

I have been a loyal Saturday customer for their Venezuelan BBQ sandwiches – the Pepito is huge but awesome more meat than anything else in the description. Their house sauce is a signature at this point in my house, and their customer service is top tier. The only time there ever was an issue was during a busy day at the food truck where my card accidentally got processed twice for the same order (simple screen showed that it hadn’t gone through, she told me that, and I said just re run it). When they found out about it the staff and manager worked to get it cleared up the next time I ordered. Great place, great food, great people.

Friend of mine recommended this place and stopped for a quick lunch. Amazing experience. Very friendly staff, and most importantly delicious food. I got Patacon Deluxe and it was out of this world. They are generous with their portions. When I say that, I don’t mean the sauce, lettuce, etc… my Patacon was filled with steaks. Very generous amount!! Although I enjoy this dish a lot, next time I will be trying the bowl – it looks so good!

Incredible flavors that put a smile on our faces! We had two different kinds of arepas and the chicken empanadas and everything was spectacular. The sauce that they gave us to put on our food was delicious as well and the service was quick and very friendly. Thanks for a fantastic dinner! We will be back

Went here for the first time today and it did not disappoint! Best empanadas I have ever tasted. The flavor combinations were out of this world and so distinct yet so cohesive. Totally worth the trip to south side!

My first time trying Venezuelan food. My brother talked me into trying it and totally don’t regret trying their food. I ordered a chicken arepa and a ground beef empanada. Both were amazing. Full of flavor and spices. When we walked in the place, it was full of Hispanic people. I’m assuming they were Venezuelan decent, but could’ve been from any Hispanic persuasion, but because of this I knew the food was gonna be amazing ! Everyone was friendly and very helpful when ordering. I highly recommend and now have to find a great Venezuelan place where I live which is Indianapolis.

Everything I’ve ever eaten from here is made with love and authenticity! The chicken empanadas are to die for, it’s served with a green sauce that is heavily. It’s equally creamy and acidic which pairs great with the entire menu. The arepas are crispy, cheesy and tender. I also love their tres leche cake with the caramel dollop! Here every bite is the perfect bit. The prices are also affordable for high quality ingredients. I truly believe this place is a gem! They have a nice almost family style dining area. There’s merchandise and food items you can cook with at home. Including cereal, masa, candy and spices. They also have delicious homemade drinks that are refreshing. Staff members are always happy and kind, you can tell they enjoy working here. I would highly recommend coming here for Venezuelan food.

I had heard a lot about this place and wanted to try it, but since it was a little far for me, I couldn’t really go. So when I was shopping near Carson Street, I made up my mind to go and try this place. The interiors are unpretentious, and you see a lot of local standing there, which basically means that the food is legit. I however, did not have a great experience. I need to preface this by saying that I’m not an expert on Venezuelan food and I only have had it a couple times. I ordered my usual order of pabellon arepa and yuca frites. I also got a sweet jaggery lime drink to go with it, and it was honestly the best part of the meal. The arepa was just okay but I would have preferred more sauces with it. The fries were cut very thick and were not cooked properly and weren’t very crispy either. Also I did not come with any sauce. I guess I was comparing it to Arrepitas which is one of my favourite Venezuelan restaurants in the city and compared to that I found the food here to be very mid for similar price.

My son took me to Cilantro & Ajo while I was visiting him at school last month. It’s such a homey place. The food was very good, & they gave great portions. There’s always a steady flow of people at Cilantro & Ajo. It’s definitely a neighborhood favorite. The restaurant is located on the southside, just a few minutes away from Downtown Pittsburgh. So, it’s easy to get to. Cilantro & Ajo is now one of my favorites when I come to Pittsburgh.
