Cicchetti (“chee-KEH-tee”), a wine bar in Uptown Charlotte featuring authentic Italian small dishes, interprets the classic Venetian bacaro. At these casual and convivial spots, locals gather in the late afternoon to enjoy glasses of wine alongside savory small bites, or cicchetti, Venice’s version of tapas. The experience here can range from after-work or pre-dinner bites and drinks, to a leisurely meal of small plates over wine with friends, or a late evening nightcap and snacks. Featuring an impressive all-world wine selection to enjoy in-house as well as a full bar with wine by the glass, cocktails and beer.

Parking is a bit of a fuss but once you get there is has a unique vibe combining date night vibes and great after work with coworkers meeting vibe. Close to everything uptown and attached to Aria Restaurant, which is delicious also!
Recommend making a reservation bc it is a smaller location.
Great selection of wines. By bottle or glass!
Hidden gem in Charlotte!
The food here is truly excellent, beautifully prepared, flavorful, and memorable. Every dish we ordered was outstanding. The kitchen is doing exceptional work.
Unfortunately, the service was abysmal, especially for a restaurant that actively markets itself as the place to dine before symphony, ballet, plays, and other shows (even offering a 10% show discount if you show tickets).
We allowed 90 minutes for dinner and told them upfront that we were headed to a show. After being seated, we waited 15 minutes with no service and had to physically stand up and find someone to help us. We were assigned to Billy, the bartender — and we were his only table.
Over the course of the meal, we had to get up three times for assistance. We have NEVER done this before.
We asked whether our three small plates and one shared entrée could be served over the 90 minutes. We were told no, that there wasn’t time. Yet all dishes arrived at once, with the entrée coming out before the salad and the small plates, and this all took eight minutes. Clearly, there was time to course out the meals if someone wanted to take the time to make that happen. Meanwhile, the table next to us (also attending the same show), with a different server, had their meal served at a proper pace and never once had to get up for service.
When asked if we wanted dessert, we said yes, but no one returned to take the order. After waiting, we walked to the bar to request our check. Fifteen minutes later, we had to stand up again to get our card processed.
This restaurant has the potential to be exceptional. The food absolutely deserves praise. But service that undermines its core marketing promise, particularly for pre-show dining , will drive customers away. I hope management addresses this, because the kitchen deserves better support than what we experienced.
I had ordered an appetizer as my main course, and it was brought out so early that it was cold by the time my partner’s meal arrived. We asked for it to be warmed, but it was returned still cold.
Additionally, our server never checked back with us, and we had to ask another staff member for drink refills. Overall, the lack of timing and attentiveness made what should have been a special evening quite disappointing.
The food was good and drinks were good.
Vibes were off with the servers. One was very standoffish and the other was pretty friendly. It was strange to bounce from the cool one to the very stand offish one.
I’d recommend this place to eat still.
