Chuys has always been a place I go to when I want generous portions at an affordable price. It’s not the best restaurant, but considering the price-to-quantity ratio, it usually works when you want a filling meal without spending too much. The location is in a very nice and safe plaza, and the atmosphere inside is pleasant and relaxed.

On this visit, I ordered a margarita, a fajita for two, and a tres leches cake. I also enjoyed their chips with the green salsa, which honestly is one of the best green salsas I’ve had at restaurants of this style—fresh, flavorful, and really delicious.

However, this time the overall experience was disappointing.
The fajita didn’t taste good, the margarita was honestly terrible (maybe it was just that day, but it really wasn’t good at all), and although the tres leches cake was amazing, the rest of the food just didn’t meet my expectations.

On top of that, the curbside service was extremely careless. The instructions say to text when you arrive, and I sent several messages, but it seems like no one actually checks them. My food had been sitting there for a while without me knowing it was ready. When they finally brought it out, the order wasn’t even complete. I had to go back to tell them things were missing, and then go back again after realizing there were additional items they hadn’t included.

I usually visit Chuys because of their fair prices and decent portions, but this time the food quality and the service delivery fell short. Hopefully, this was just an off day.

Update: We came back the service was much better, but we were noot seated in the bar area like last time

I have come here several times because I am a sucker for their creamy jalapeño dip and I love the restaurant chain. Unfortunately this location is always understaffed, and my girlfriend always get frustrated with the lack of service, so just be aware that you may get ignored for longer than its acceptable. Food was still still good.

Everything is great as always! We ordered the combination Fajitas with shrimp. And our all time fav Tres Leches cake! Ashley was our server and she went above and beyond with all of our requests! Thanks for her and chuys

Stopped in to eat with my fiance and daughter but when we walked in there was no one at the host stand to seat us or great us. We waited and waited and since no one ever came my fiance went to the bar to ask for help getting seated and the bartender purposely ignored him. She saw him standing there and then refused to even make eye contact and kept her back to him the entire time. I honestly don’t know why I continue to give any Chuy’s location a change as EVERY single one I have been to has had the worst service.

My family and I walked into Chuy’s expecting to be seated, but there was no hostess anywhere. We stood around for several minutes, then I walked the restaurant myself trying to find anyone who could help us, but everyone appeared too busy to even acknowledge us.

I eventually went to the bar, hoping to at least get assistance there, but the bartender would not make eye contact and clearly had no interest in engaging or asking if we needed help. We were completely ignored.

This is now the second Chuy’s location in the Houston area where we’ve had a bad experience. The difference is that at the other location, we were at least able to get seated. Here, we weren’t even given that courtesy.

What a fun place. I was in town for work and someone recommended Chuy’s. It was so good that I went back again the next night. The food was very good and the staff were very friendly. I’m ordered the tortillas soup as I was feeling under the weather and it really was so fresh and flavorful. There were so many different items to choose from it was hard to decide what to order. The boom-boom sauce was a little spicy but in a good way. I will be back the next time I am in town.

When you want consistently good Tex Mex food and service at an amazing price, go to Chuy’s.

The folks who work here have it all under control, and I have had many good dining experiences here.

A good while ago, I decided to take a chance and order the Comida Deluxe plate to-go, which comes with two cheese enchiladas, a crispy taco, chicken floutas (fried), two tostada chips dipped in queso, Mexican rice and refried beans.

This is a great dish for me because I can never make up my mind, and I get to have a little bit of “everything,” but I had only ever ordered it for a dine-in meal. I was worried the food would be soggy.

Oh, how wrong I was!

Their expertise was on full display when I got home and unpacked everything.

The cheese enchiladas, Mexican rice and refried beans were packaged in their own (sturdy) tin-foil box, so none of the sauces could make the crispy items soggy.

The taco, tostadas and floutas were packed separately in a ventilated box. The queso, guacamole and sour cream all came in their own containers, so that everything stayed crispy and warm.

They also included a huge bag of chips, ranch-jalapeño sauce and salsa.

Their thoughtful packaging made a huge difference in the quality of the food. I’ve ordered this same dish to-go several times now and have never been let down.

Today, my husband and I dined in for lunch and had the absolute best time.

I switched up my order and opted for the burrito with fajita steak and Boom Boom sauce.

Oh my goodness, it was packed full of flavor: The beef was tender enough and well seasoned, and the Boom Boom sauce was a cheesy bit of semi-spicy (to me) heaven.

Our server, Tara, put our experience over the top.

Due to a large party in the room where we were seated, we ended up at a table that they weren’t sure who was going to be the server.

Tara realized this and the fact that we hadn’t been greeted yet (we were only there for a couple of minutes), and took it upon herself to stop by.

She started our drink order (two iced teas) and said she’d get them for us and bring us some snacks while she figured out who had our table.

First things first, calling chips and salsa “snacks” was so utterly delightful for me that it nearly brought me to my knees. Who doesn’t love snacks? And I can’t think of a more fun way to say “chips and salsa.” Long live snacks!

Second, Tara demonstrated real care for guests when she chose to greet us, get our drinks and snacks started, and tell us that she wasn’t sure who’d take care of us but would find out.

And when I say “chose,” I mean it: Most folks, if they even noticed a table hasn’t been greeted yet, would just walk on by and tell the hostess. But not Tara. And that went a really long way toward feeling cared for as a guest.

As luck would have it, Tara ended up taking our table.

She was on her game the entire time. She beamed with friendly professionalism, checked on us and chatted with us often enough that we wanted for nothing, but not so often that it was intrusive.

At the end of the meal, she, again, showed us how incredibly perceptive she is by not only offering us to-go containers for our leftover entrées, but also for our second basket of chips, ranch-jalapeño sauce and salsa, all of which were almost full. And then she offered to bring us two teas to-go, which I was planning on asking for but didn’t have to.

Let me tell you, Tara is a true hospitality professional who takes ownership of ensuring guests have a great experience, even when she doesn’t think a table will be hers.

I worked in or adjacent to hospitality for more than two decades. I know how restaurants work, and that’s sometimes a blessing and sometimes a curse. Suffice to say, I know what I want from a dining experience, and I know what to generally expect depending on where I’m eating.

The qualities Tara demonstrated today are impossible to train someone on: You either have them or you don’t.

Tara is a top-tier human being, and we are so happy to have crossed paths with her today.

Great place to eat, nicely decorated. We were fortunate to get to full time RV-ing and as we travel and visit so many places, we believe to write a review is very important. We always make sure we have the time and we also soot few interior pictures as I do photography anyway…this restaurant is very cool decorated. I recommend this place. Thank you.

Now I usually don’t post negative reviews but this experience just kept degrading as we were there. Now I understand we came 1 hour before closing, however that should not mean the quality of food and service should degrade. There was another couple that walked in at the same time as us and they were done eating and left before we even got to receive our food.

1) the atmosphere was horrible. When we first sat down, I heard our server from the back side of the room at the server station loudly say “Oh Come On”. I then looked over and she was looking at us. Clearly was upset that we were there. There was also another server/ bartender that swore as she walked past us, frustrated from another table saying that the drink she brought was wrong. Over all just felt like an unwelcoming environment.

2) Our server kept forgetting things such as drink refills, not receiving all the components of our appetizer, and when asking for chip refill she physically came with a scoop full of chips and plopped them down in the basket.
3) Food quality was okay however there were issues. Some chips were stale. We ordered Fajitas/ Chicken for 2. We waited 30 minutes after ordering to get our food. When we received it, the rice and tortillas were cold. When the manager came to fix the issue he just grabbed the food and said I’ll fix it, no apologizing for the fact that we were served cold food, no checking on us after we got the replacement food to see if we were doing better. Just came over for one second to take the food off the table and that was it.
4) I don’t know if they make their own desert or not but the tres leches cake was burned. You could taste that the cake was over cooked even with all the sweetness.
We have gone to Chuy’s before but normally go to the one in the woodlands. This one is a little closer but we will not be returning after this.
