(Go to abhiruchi’s instead and order the lamb Pasadena you will not be disappointed)

Dissatisfied. There was a long black hair in the chicken curry just sitting there, and nobody bothered to fix it. On top of that, I found another black hair in my tandoori chicken.

I came on a Sunday for their buffet, thinking that since Abhiruchi seems to be closed for the foreseeable future, I might as well see if this place was comparable. Sadly, it’s not.

All the curries were oddly thin and watery, and most tasted bland. The buffet stand was half empty, and only after I said something did they bother to refill some of the items. The mint chutney I really enjoyed. The rice pudding was flat compared to Abhiruchi and was served cold maybe that’s just how they do it at this location. The gulab jamun was also cold but actually tasted quite good.

The only redeeming quality was the price, which was around $18.50. I was hoping they’d offer more options something like a korma, goat curry, chicken pasanda, or at least a yogurt based sauce. Ultimately, it was……okay not gross, but also just “eh.”

This spot would rank at the bottom of the Indian restaurants I’ve tried, with Abhiruchi and Bhuna at the top. Maybe it was just a bad day, but I expected more options, more flavor, and significantly less hair in my food.

Loved the lamb vindaloo and chana marsala. Both had great flavor and the lamb was very tender. Enjoyed garlic Naan and samosas too. I’ll be back!

I love Indian food. This place does a great job. Give it a try. I was passing through town and this place popped up on a Google search. It is very unassuming. If I am ever in the area again, I will be sure to give Chutneys my business again.

Takeout order. We had Chicken Korma MILD and Mango Chicken Curry HOT. In the Korma requests order block, we added “make it as mild as possible”. They did a perfect job. We both really liked our food and it held up well on the trip home from the restaurant. We also ordered plain naan. EXCELLENT

First time here and I’m really sorry that I procrastinated. Wonderful service and delicious food. Tandoori chicken was moist and delicious and it could be very dry.The garlic naan looks delicious as well. Can’t say that there was a bad thing we ate. I’m pretty picky. And I really like that you can choose your heat if you’re eating with spice wimps

Used to be a go to date night spot. Partner and I were pleased with everything served.

However, last summer, July 2025, when I ordered a dish with goat meat, I was literally spitting out shards of bone. Every bite. I could not enjoy the flavors because I was fighting bone fragments. It’s like they took the lunch buffet dish and lazily served it at full dinner plate price.
We’ll never go back.
*******Edited to add:
Although I understand the buffet stopped during covid, my review stands, as I recall when signs alerted that lunch buffet would be available again. Perhaps you have changed your operations since.

I, however, stand by NOT picking bone shards from meals I pay for.

Sooo disappointed.
Frozen vegetables in my Vegy Korma. Never in my life have I gotten Indian food with frozen vegetables.
(After searching other reviews I downgraded from 2 stars to 1, they absolutely use frozen vegetables not fresh produce)
Huge Indian cuisine fan, spent years living in India n Nepal. Can make my own, but its time consuming so I ordered out. I could’ve gone n bought frozen vegys and a pre-made sauce bottle for less, but that would be gross.
Thus imagine my shock when I got home and opened my Korma to see that’s what I got. Flavor was OK, so I hope at least that was homemade, but the perfect cubed carrots, corn, peas, green beans are clearly a frozen vegy pack.
Not traditional korma vegys, of the large chunks of cauliflower, potatoe, onion ext normally served in a korma.
Honestly, I’d give 1 star, but im hoping this was a fluke or that this review will have an impact.
When I order Indian food im expecting fresh vegetables, not frozen garbage.
Naan also did not seem fresh but packaged, with no fluff, just a flat tortilla like bread thrown on a grill.
Sooo disappointed.

Not impressed.

First off I read in another review they used frozen carrots, which is absolutely true, even though the owner tried to deny it.

You can easily tell the difference, fresh carrots have a snap all the way up until they turn to mush. While frozen even if nicely cooked have this weird mushy texture.

Now aside from the owner lying, the food was just not good, the buttered chicken tasted terrible, the biryani was over seasoned and the mint chutney which I paid 4$ separate for was not even half filled.

Naan was too thin, and though it was cooked well, it had a weird after taste.

The prices were just as bad as the rest, grossly overpriced for what you pay.

There is other Indian restaurants in Vancouver that deserve the price they ask, this one is a scam.
