Excellent year end dinner

My family was there on 30/12 for the year end dinner and my son’s birthday. Our experience was excellence.

The service is excellent. They observed different type of guests dining behaviour and serve us very smart. They knew us will share the dishes by just observing what we have ordered. I can see they serve in a differnt way in the table next to us even with their precise observation.

Food is among the top class around the world. Especially some of the small dishes are better than expected.

Please expect to budget around 120 to 150GBP per head. But, please bear in mind that this is a top class restaurant. So, it is a good value choice on this class of restaurant.

Highlighted small plates:
Chilli Glazed Fresh Paneer Tikka

Highlighted main dishes:
Whole Tandoori Lobster
Kid Gosht Biryani

Felt extremely disappointed with our experience at Chutney Mary. We had clearly indicated on the booking form that it was my partner’s birthday, yet the restaurant failed to do anything about it. Seeing the next table get a birthday recognition made us feel worse.

While the food was good at Chutney Mary, you do expect a small gesture on a booking where you expect a special occasion. Additionally, I filled out the feedback form on the restaurant’s site and never got a response.

My sister and I were visiting and did not have a reservation. Not a problem, they were able to get us seated with impeccable service. We got 4 appetizers and one main all to share. Food was absolutely amazing. The flavor profile, the depth, presentation and portions were incredible. We were stuffed by the time our main dish came. Safe to say we were able to take it home with us to enjoy at a later date.

Overall 4 stars but individual 5 stars – from the service to the food, faultless, but the drinks were a let down. Between a mojito pitcher and mulled wine, we honestly could not taste a drop of alcohol. So not sure what happened with that, but I honestly cannot fault the food. The chicken starter was the best I’ve had. The main which was ghost biryani was also really good and flavoursome. Staff are attentive and prompt to take you to your table. The ambience is lovely and gets busy, so reservation is sensible. They have ample seating, so hopefully they can cater to large numbers. It was a celebration too, and they got a little something for the occasion, so thank you. Would recommend. The menu is a small one, but I think you can find something for yourself, even if vegetarian.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (10 stars if I could!!)

Absolutely phenomenal dining experience at Chutney Mary’s in London! From start to finish, everything was perfection. Our waiter, Mario, was an absolute delight — attentive, knowledgeable, and made our evening feel so special.

We started with the artichoke appetizer (incredible!), scallops and even the samosas blew us away — they had pomegranates in them, which added the most unexpected and delicious touch. For mains, we tried the butter chicken, halibut, and green curry chicken — each one cooked to perfection, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor. Order extra garlic naan!!!!!

And do not skip dessert — the dessert sampler paired with mint tea and chai tea was the dreamiest ending to the night. Every bite felt like a celebration of flavor and artistry.

This place deserves 10 stars if I could give them — elegant, vibrant, and absolutely unforgettable. Highly, highly recommend!

Limited vegetarian options. Cocktails were good, especially Mango Chilli Daiquiri. Baked Marwadi Veg Samosa, Rajasthani Ghevar Chaat and Paneer Tikka were good, carrot chutney was excellent. Tandoori Artichoke Hearts was ok-ish. Scallops were not fresh but restaurant was nice to take it back without charge. Butter Chicken, Aloo Ki Sabji, Sarson ka Saag and Dal were excellent. Veg Kofta was ok-ish. Biryani was very good too but was served without any salan or raita. Food portion is small. Young staff is very nice and go out of the way to recommend dishes. Older staff could improve, as an example, we ordered Veg Kofta and a Veg Crescent Thali that consists of four small portion of veg curries including Veg Kofta. Older staff didn’t stop us from ordering Veg Kofta separately due to which we ended up having two plates of same curry. We could have ordered a different curry , if we knew. Washrooms are one floor down, very clean and beautiful. Reservation is recommended as it is difficult to get a place during walk-in. For reservation, a minimum of 60 pound expense per person is required.

After a beautiful wedding in Cannes, my mother and I were on our way back to Miami with a two-day layover in London. We were told Chutney Mary was a must for Indian food—but nothing prepared us for the sheer brilliance of it all.
From the moment we stepped in, it felt like we had found something truly special. The ambiance, the warmth of the staff, and then… the food. Each dish was a masterpiece—bursting with flavor, fresh, and so perfectly balanced. It wasn’t just a meal; it was an experience. Every bite felt like a connection to something deeper, richer, and more beautiful than I can put into words.
I will carry the memory of this meal with me, long after I return to Miami. I can’t wait to be back in London, and I’ll return to Chutney Mary without a second thought. If you’re ever in the area, do yourself a favor and visit. This is more than food; it’s a taste of something unforgettable.

I’ve never had better Indian food in my life . Not in Houston, not in India. Not anywhere else in London. It’s simply off the charts. The butter chicken is so succulent and sublime that I can’t even describe it properly. And of course the rest of their food is simply amazing.

Chutney Mary is an exceptional Indian fine dining experience in the heart of London. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a beautifully designed interior that sets the stage for a memorable meal. The ambiance is elegant, warm, and refined—perfect for both special occasions and a classy night out.

The food is absolutely outstanding. Every dish is bursting with authentic Indian flavors, beautifully presented, and cooked to perfection. There’s a wide variety to choose from, whether you’re a fan of traditional curries or looking to explore more modern Indian cuisine. Just a heads-up: some of the dishes can be quite spicy, so be sure to ask your server if you’re unsure. That said, the balance of flavors is spot-on, and everything we ordered was delicious.

They cater well to different dietary preferences, offering great options for both vegetarians and seafood lovers. The staff are friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable about the menu. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and they were happy to accommodate any special requests.

One thing to note،there is a dress code, especially for men, so plan accordingly to avoid any issues at the door.

Overall, Chutney Mary is one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve visited in London. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for top-tier Indian cuisine in a sophisticated setting.
