We searched for places to eat from Boone all the way up to Mtn City and ended in this place, and it did not disappoint!
The fried mushrooms were what sold us in stopping there, and 10/10 would recommend every time. Their cheese curds were to die for.
We got the BLFT, which was simple and delicious, not too heavy to eat; and a ham sub with pimento cheese added. It was just what we had been looking for.
Oh! And their sweet tea tastes like true homemade tea. ❤️
We live all the way in Roanoke and WILL be coming back again.

Man!!! The pizza is delicious or as we say in Hawaii, Ono!! I got a veggie pizza for my elderly mom, and had a slice, found it to be super tasty and ended up eating half the pie! Greeted very warmly and was made sure to have all I needed upon departure. My sister who owns and runs the hawaiian place on main street with her husband recommended you folks and you did not disappoint!! Awesome!!

Tried this for the first time today after driving across the mountain from Stoney Creek. It’s a pretty average little diner, not too special but not the worst. Prices are fair for some items, like the daily specials, a regular burger, or a sweet tea, but for some items like the bologna sandwich, it’s a bit pricey at almost $7. My partner ordered the Railroad Burger with added on mushrooms and onions, but they were left off, I suppose from a misunderstanding. I ordered a cheeseburger with onion, lettuce, pickles, mayo, and Ketchup, and we both shared the fried mushrooms and Freight Line fries. We did order two large teas and they were 32oz and fresh, though a tad bit on the too sweet side, but very good nonetheless. We waited for about 15 minutes, and they let us turn on an outdoor heater to eat in the lobby, which was warm, but with the concrete seating I was half chilled and half toasted too much. We were informed that they were out of chili despite it being on half the menu items and having paid for it on the specialty fries so we settled with just cheese which ended up being very good and came out piping hot. The mushrooms were supposed to come with honey and horseradish but I wanted it on the side since I don’t care for it as much and we were sharing. Though it was supposed to come with the order we did end up paying an extra $.50 and the honey actually didn’t taste too great, so I probably wouldn’t try this again. My burger was very good, but just like any other burger place really at a fair price. My partners was a little less impressive for being the “specialty” of the two and missing its other items. Overall it’s not a bad place to eat but I wouldn’t go out of my way (an hour) to eat there again.

Not impressed. Small, tasteless wrap,DRY with NO mayo, bag of chips. Husband got chili potato. Somehow, with 2 drinks and a side it ended up to be 31.00. Not worth it. Also, they ask for tips. It’s a walk up window with picnic benches. Won’t return

Pizza Flatbread okay. Philly cheese meat stuck in my husband’s teeth so he gave half to dog who also had a burger patty. Fries average and more salty than we like. Shakes good.. All outdoor eating, self serve and self cleanup.

Seems like a happy go lucky group working here, very friendly. Outside only patio seating, great for days out with the family during summer. Lunch special was a nice little combo style meal, and their Philly steak was pretty much exactly what I expected and I was not disappointed in any of my visits. There may be a wait for food and/or ordering, especially with large groups. GET YOU A SHAKE!!!! Expect maybe $10-$15 ish per adult.

I love going to local places. The people here are very nice. The food was pretty good. My wife got a burger and it was very good. We also got fried pickles and they were excellent. The flat bread pizza sadly was not good. Flat bread was not good and the cheese was also but very good. But that does not mean this place is not worth going to because it is. Just don’t get the pizza.

Fantastic experience! We were visiting the town for four days to volunteer with the disaster rebuilding efforts. We ate there twice for lunch and returned in the evenings for milk shakes. If we were in town longer, we’d return again. The service and food were great. I highly recommend Church Street Station if you’re in Mountain City.

If I could give 10 stars in every category I would. This is GREAT local place. If you are in Mountain City this restaurant is a MUST! Our group (16 people) stopped by several times during our stays in Mountain City and were always greeted with a smile and amazing hospitality. The food is all homemade and absolutely delicious! Don’t miss out on this wonderful restaurant!

I’m not local but I do work in the area. I was looking for a place to eat lunch that wasn’t fast food. The food at CSS was delicious!! I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the railroad burger and fries. I will be visiting again soon to try something else off their very large menu!!
