We recently discovered this fantastic Mexican restaurant and were blown away! We ordered the carnitas platter, which came with a generous serving of perfectly crispy yet tender carnitas, flavorful rice and beans, and fresh homemade corn tortillas. The portion was enough for two people. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We’re only in town for a few weeks, but we’ll definitely be coming back at least once more before we leave!

The food here is amazing—truly some of the best Mexican food I’ve had in town. Fresh ingredients, great flavor, and generous portions. Every time I’ve actually been able to eat here, it’s been well worth it.

BUT—and this is a big one—their posted hours just don’t match reality. I’ve tried to come by several times over the past week during their listed open hours, and every time the place has been closed. It’s super frustrating, especially when you’re planning around it or driving out of your way.

I totally get that things happen—staffing issues, emergencies, etc.—but at this point it seems like a regular issue. I’d love to be able to support them more often, but it’s hard when I can’t count on them being open.

Bottom line: Incredible food when they’re open, but don’t trust the hours. Call ahead or be ready to roll with it.

The fact that people haven’t caught on to this place yet is crazy to me! Super authentic and delicious. The tamales and salsa are my favorite in town, and all of their sauces are always super fresh and flavorful. They offer lots of wonderful takeaway options to stock your next family dinner, like homemade tortillas, 12-packs of their homemade tamales, and protein options.

Best home made gourmet tortillas and guacamole and chips. Our party wouldn’t have been the same without the delicious additions to my cooking. We can’t wait to taste more of their amazing menu items. Super friendly, warm and kind service, made me feel like family. We’ll be back.

Do not ever go here if you want authentic mexican. this was the worst mexican i’ve ever had and the first place in bend me and my gf tried, we got the nachos and a quesadilla.
I’ll start with the nachos, 1. it was actually nacho cheese sauce that taco bell uses and doesn’t even make sense how this is considered “authentic” 2. it doesn’t come with any beans which it said it did and anytime we’ve got authentic nachos it always has. 3. the guacamole was like liquid and had no taste to it which i don’t even get how it gets to that texture and isn’t thick, it really seemed watered down.
Quesadilla, was the most bland quesadilla i’ve ever had. 1. it had no beans or rice (which again said it came with beans). 2. it tasted like they didn’t even season the meat in any way. 3. it was maybe half full, i had mostly just tortilla and had to fold all the pieces over just to eat it normally bc it was so empty. 4. again the guacamole was horrible with this. 5. it came with mozzarella cheese which isn’t authentic either.
I don’t understand how this is considered authentic mexican, it was the most bland and white washed “authentic mexican” we’ve ever had. I saw good reviews and decided to go here and im very disappointed and feel like whoever thinks this is good just has no taste buds or doesn’t know what authentic mexican is. 1.5 out of 5 stars (only a 1.5 bc i liked the environment). Changed their name from tortilla reyes to this because they got such bad reviews!

Imelda and Enrique have done a beautiful job with Chupacabra. They are incredibly welcoming and friendly and so is their entire staff. I was worried when the last restaurant left because I loved it so much for a very long time and have been so happily surprised at how wonderful Chupacabra is. Their food is delicious and the portions are generous. The chips and pico are the best addition to the meals. Try the barbacoa tacos – they’re my favorite.

This place was dirty and the food was terrible. I had chicken tacos. Only 1 tortilla and I literally had to drain chicken juice from my taco for 30 seconds. It filled my plate full of liquid ruining my other tacos.. do not recommend
