I ordered my cup of coffee like I always do and the cup it was served in, had me intrigued. I kept looking at it. It just looked so familiar. Until it hit me it was the identical cup that my grandmother used to have. She passed away 4yrs ago. I called my mother and showed it to her and had me asked the waitress if they would sell it to us. The waitress told the manager the story and they agreed to give it to me free of charge. Now I’ll have something to remember My Grandmother by. Thanks Chuckwagon!
We visited here for breakfast both days we were up there, and had lunch as well. Boy howdy, I truly cannot articulate just how phenomenal this experience was for us. Darla, our server, embodied everything a truly exceptional server should be—helpful, kind, patient, humorous, and radiated an endlessly upbeat and welcoming attitude. Her warmth and attentiveness made every visit feel special. The other servers seem very friendly as well, and they all seem to work great as a team.
The food was very good. Almost everything on the menu is homemade. We tried their cinnamon rolls, which were incredibly soft and had a good ratio with the cinnamon, and tried some of their scones/fry bread that reminded us of home. Their lunch was good too but breakfast was where it took the cake for us.
Thank you, Darla, for being absolutely extraordinary.

Once again, I simply cannot emphasize enough how utterly perfect this place was for us.
Everything was great in my book. I liked the place and would come again
The hostess was awesome though. Very friendly and made sure someone came over to take my order.
From the wait staff, to the servers, to the decor… Everything here is incredible. Honestly, i want to try every single item on the menu.
My first recommendation is ask your waitress. Tell them what you want. I said, I’ll have the oatmeal. I thought I was ordering something lighter…. What a fantastic surprise.
Jess was our server. She was very friendly and quick with the coffee refills.
Myself and my group of six all found a comfortable place to sit and were promptly served. After some deciding as a group, I ordered the Frickles (fried pickles) and Mac ‘n cheese bites as appetizers, as well as a bottled Coors banquet. Cold beer, fresh and hot fried appetizers. All delicious. After this, I decided to order the deep fried bacon and jalapeño burger. (Though I was incredibly tempted to go for the Navajo taco. Next time!)
Nicely toasted buns, hearty patty, and the fried bacon was perfect. Just enough spicy jalapeños to complement and not overwhelm the burger too. This also came with some choice waffle fries that paired nicely with house fry sauce.
Other members of my group went with the fish ‘n chips, ranch burgers, scones, and to finish everything off, I had a slice of cherry pie. We all enjoyed our meals and the prices were incredibly fair for filling meals. This was the night of Superbowl Sunday, so we were able to see halftime when we got there and it was a little noisy, but not overly busy, which was a pleasant surprise!
I’ll definitely come back to the Chuckwagon when I take a trip up to Lava again.
