I’ve been to Nashville and had Nashville Hot Chicken, and I can say with 0% doubt that this place is better than what I had in Nashville.
For the chicken sandwich, I decided it was time to go in HOT, and as an absolute lover of actually spicy food, the #5 surprised and sated me. The heat rush I got from it was intense, and I could feel the endorphins running. It was incredibly crunchy, sauced well, and paired with a delicious bun and pickles. I probably won’t try the #6 unless I just really want to be in pain. To be clear, #5 was actually hot, not a “I think pickled jalapenos are hot” but a “I have to remember to wash my hands after this or I’m going to be blind if I rub my eyes” hot.
The side of fries was probably one of the best seasoned fries I have ever had. They were crunchy, seasoned well, and perfectly fried and hot(temperature, not spice). We also tried the corn fritters, and if you’re a lover of fried sweet corn, you will probably love them just as much as I did.
We also tried the frozen lemonade drinks, and they were the perfect combination to this spicy meal.
I know that I will be spending lots of money at this incredible joint, and I’m super happy that they decided to open in south city. When the weather gets better, this will be the perfect place to sit outside and enjoy the best hot chicken around.
My fiancé and I split the chicken and waffles and are stuffed! Portions are HUGE, seasoning is amazing, and sauce options hit the spot.
However they refuse to let you call and their website takeout is not very clear on several things. (The hot honey is not honey mustard fyi) Ordering by phone was a main convenience reason I liked this place. It also defaults to a 10% tip for pickup which I think is flat dishonest. You have to go through custom tip. Made me feel squeezed which is very disappointing as I liked the local business feel of the place. I on
$38 for two chicken sandwiches with a sauce and a cheese curd no fries or drinks. I was a chucks evangelist but it’s a pain now. I’m not going to argue for the $2 I was overcharged but it’s a bummer. I rarely get food when it’s not local but idk if this will be the place. It’s embraced the big chain problems.
A business’s advertised hours are a commitment to their customers. When you close early, you are stating that your staff’s convenience is more important than your patrons’ time, gas money, and effort. If you can’t trust a business to stay open during their own stated hours, you simply can’t trust them with your business. Don’t bother showing up if it’s anywhere near the end of the day; they’ve clearly checked out long before the clock hits the hour. I won’t be making the trip back.
