I really wanted to love this place, heard wonderful things about the food. However very disappointed. First, the good things the restaurant was very cute inside,, the mood was there. The waitress was very nice and attentive. The bread and pretzel bites that they put in table were good. However when it came time for dinner I ordered rib eye and crab cake (almost $100) when I got my steak I immediately could tell it was a NY strip. I politely asked to waitress who said she asked the chef and it was a rib eye. Definitely not, my son had a Ny strip and my sister had rib eye mine looked identical to my sons. I tasted it and confirmed my suspicion…not a rib eye! I tasted my sisters and hers was infact a rib eye and pretty good. Mashed potatoes dry very dry, the crab cake was exactly what someone would want , no filling, however it was extremely dry and the bottom was way over done and smaller then the palm of my hand (for $25). Side of Bernaise (extra $5) was like solidified as if it sat out too long. We went for my brothers birthday so yes I did eat most of it and shared with my son as I didn’t want to cause an issue as they already insisted my steak was what I knew it wasn’t. So I knew saying anything else wouldn’t matter. However $300 later for 3 meals , 1 drink and 3 sodas. Not worth it at all . Very disappointing.

The staff is absolutely excellent. The food is amazing. They were more than accommodating towards a small party to celebrate our daughter’s 14th birthday. Everything was just absolutely perfect. Well worth the price executive chef outdoes himself absolutely amazing.

We were seated by a huge window that was clearly not sealed, because you could feel the draft and it was like sitting outside in the cold. The table was so small we could barely fit our plates on it with an app and the couple sitting behind us had to squeeze into their chairs., The steaks we ordered were not prepared the way we requested, one was burnt and the other close to raw. The bill for two people with a tip was over 300, and I did tip generously because the service was fantastic. A good steakhouse should make your steak as requested and the climate should be comfortable, not drafty.

One of the best steaks I’ve had!! The 16oz Rib Eye was cooked absolutely perfect with just enough “sear” to lock in the flavor! The added mashed potatoes and asparagus completely rounded out a phenomenal meal! The dinner ended with the Crème Brûlée, which was out of this world! A great meal in an awesome setting easily put Chubby’s in the top five of steakhouses that I’ve eaten at!

We celebrated my own Chubby Hubby’s milestone 50th birthday last night at Chubby’s Steakhouse in Gloucester City, and WOW, I can not say enough about the food and service! We had a semi private table, which was perfect for spreading out and relaxing as you would at home. Our party of five made diverse selections, and because of that, I feel we were able to sample a large cross section of the menu. Our appetizers were conservative in size, but not in flavor, and we were all doing our best to be polite and not reach for the last of anything! I could have left right after the Bang Bang Shrimp and Prime Rib egg rolls and considered myself lucky, but thankfully, the rest of the meal was just as satisfying. Surf, turf, or sky. Fur, feathers, or fins. You name it – we ate it! It was a culinary feast for our senses; as not only was each dish layered with flavor, but they were plated beautifully as well. I brought a carrot cake of our own, which they stored for us until the end of our meal. They brought us plates, utensils, and candles for no extra fee, which was a nice surprise. They had a gentleman playing acoustic guitar and singing during dinner, which we all enjoyed. Our waitress happily volunteered to take several photographs of us as well, adding to the celebratory vibe of the evening. We look forward to including Chubby’s to our family’s rotation of special occasion restaurants and also taking advantage of their midweek specials. Specifically, their Tuesday evening $99 prix fixe meal for two!

The absolute BEST steak you will ever eat! Three fabulous owners who deserve all the success in the world for bringing this gem, Chubby’s Steakhouse, to life in my childhood hometown of Gloucester City, New Jersey. ❤️ Congratulations, Thomas Monahan, Larry Spera, and Tom Page! If I could give it 10 stars, I would.

Came here for our anniversary dinner and had an amazing experience! Our waitress ( I believe her name was Nicole?? I could be wrong sorry!) was incredible. We got the fixed dinner for 2 and not only was it a great deal but everything was delicious. Highly recommend the rib eye! We also got the prime rib spring rolls, Ceasar salad, the steak tip pasta and the apple pie cheesecake. All of it was incredible and we will most definitely be coming back!

Had reservations made from Open table to celebrate our anniversary. We get that parking was not an issue. It is a hidden gem. Complimentary bread and butter. We thought the bang bang shrimp was delicious and priced well because of its flavoring and quality. My husband loved the pork chop. The ribeye was delicious with and without the sauce. I want the recipe for the sweet potatoes; It was so good. The desert was delicious. I would recommend Chubby and we will be back.

Title: Extremely Disappointing and Not Worth the Splurge ($$$)
We chose this highly-rated, expensive steakhouse to celebrate a special birthday, and it was a complete failure. As a significant splurge, the experience was profoundly frustrating. The oysters were underwhelming and the main courses were a disaster: my mother’s steak was cold, and my stepfather’s lobster tail was so unchewable it had to be sent back. The chicken parm was tough. Our salads were poor quality (plain shrimp, not “Bang Bang”) and arrived 10 minutes after the steaks. The only good thing was the dessert. Save your money—you can get a better steak at a chain for a fraction of the price. We will not be returning.
