When they brought out the pulled pork nachos I thought I had died and gone to food heaven. . If you are a down home comfort food type of person this is your place. I had ordered their baby back rib plate too, but had to take it back to the campsight for dinner – poor me! . Loved everything about this experience.

Clean, Welcoming and great staff, and great BBQ. Ribs fell off the bone with a great smokey flavor, cubbies fries were piled high, tacos were perfect, chicken strips were juicy and fresh, and Sweet Tea was perfect. We will return again!! Thank you for a great experience and great food.

Chubby’s is located about a half mile off I-55 at Hati. This is a small restaurant that appears to be popular with the locals. The food was good. The inside was decorated with local memorabilia. If you’re looking for a place for a quick bite with local flair try this place out.

Try this!
The BBQ is delicious. The sauce is Smokey sweet & tasty. Pleasantly surprised with quick friendly service. Spicy bbq sauce is good too. Old sign & decor is just the right kind of interesting.
Right off the interstate- plenty parking & space to sit. Give it a try.

This place has some of the best BBQ I’ve ever had! It’s a little hole in the wall place, but it’s amazing. So much flavor in all their food. We had ribs, pork, fries and onion rings. It’s all incredible! And the people are super friendly and caring. This will definitely be a place we come back to when we’re in the area!

Because of the lowish rating I was a little skeptical. But here is my rating.
Service- top notch. Greeted immediately. Checked on often. Genuinely friendly
Food – a meatier back rib than I’m accustomed to. There were fat pieces, but the ribs were so meaty that it was easily forgiven. We got the last grilled chicken. Very tender and flavoful. The chopped pork was on point. We had the platter and honestly there was so much food it will make meals for us for 3 days. My only complaint was that the food was not hot. It was warm. But we were so hungry and it was so good we just kept eating it. That was our fault for not mentioning it.
Atmosphere- it is hard to explain the setting. It’s almost like my uncle’s garage that he converted into a space to host our family.
I would totally go there again.

The ribs were tender, falling off the bone, and not overly sauced. We were passing through on our way from MI. Darcy was great. She said the ribs were good and they were, and she warned us the coleslaw had vinegar dressing. The baked potato salad served hot was delicious. The baked beans were a tiny bit spicy, but yum. It was warm and cozy inside on a cold night. We felt very welcome and were happy we’d stopped.

While on our road trip south we became hungry of course. Also while being in rural country all you see are the usual fast food signs next to the highway. So we pulled off the road in Hayti, MO and traveled inward about quarter of a mile before finding where the locals eat. We see this small red building with a cartoon-like pig painted on the side with the words Chubby’s BBQ!

Atmosphere was quaint & rustic as it should be for a local BBQ eats. The interior is essentially all plywood with various signs from companies such as gasoline and other businesses. A few signed t-shirts, a banner talking about the town and various pig figurines, signs and even had a Christmas tree decorated with pigs topped off with a pig with wings tree topper. Plenty of seating and a pretty stellar menu to boot. The two ladies serving everyone were very welcoming and helpful. Plus several locals came in while we were there. Proving we came to the right place.

Now onto the food! Like I said above, there’s plenty to choose from on the menu. Chose unsweet tea to drink and it tastes excellent. Very large cup as well! Your food comes out on one of those heavy-duty Styrofoam divided 10″inch plates. Believe me when I say “you won’t see much of that plate”. The amount of food you get is astonishing and you’ll definitely leave with some leftovers. Or very full!!! Now I’ve had some good BBQ. But when I can honestly say this is the “Best I’ve ever had”! That’s saying something. It was the most succulent, moist & juiciest BBQ I have ever tasted. We tried the chopped pork sandwich w/ homemade potato salad & coleslaw. (Side Note: the coleslaw is oil & vinager based where its got that nice little twang to it. So good!) Also tried the Baby Back Ribs Platter. Once again had the homemade coleslaw & their Chubby’s fries. The ribs covered half the plate. I was able to just pull the meat apart without any effort. Pull the bones right out cleanly. AMAZING I tell you!

Definitely stopping back by on our way back home.

Can’t forget about “Desert”: 3 delicious pies are on the menu. French Silk pie, Pecan pie & Peanut Butter pie. We had the Peanut Butter pie and let me tell you right now. The pie was rich & creamy, graham cracker crust. So good!

You most definitely won’t be disappointed by stopping by this local eat! A must go to!

PS: I did notice a sign stating their closed Sunday and Monday. So keep that in mind while traveling.

1st time here. I’m not really a bbq fan, but gave it a shot. I tried Chubby’s version of a chimichanga. It was pretty big with bbq meat inside, but served with salsa. No sauce on the outside so it was manageable to pickup to eat and not real messy. The meat was flavorful, but nothing to write home about.
While eating at a table we observed what appeared to be a lot of regulars coming in to pickup to go orders. Also, a lot of people were dining in. This was mid-afternoon on a Saturday.
It wouldn’t be my choice to go back, but I’m not a local so take that for what it’s worth!
