Think of this simply like Korean BBQ but instead of cooking with tongs, you’re cooking a bunch of skewers. This place is pretty easy as it’s self serve and you can get whatever you like in the refrigerator close by. Try as many different variations of meats or vegetables or just keep eating the same thing. The choice is yours.
This is fun as you cook your own skewers and they cook pretty fast since they’re small. If you don’t feel confident, they offer a cooking guide that shows the times that can help you make sure everything is perfect.
I’ve seen this place get fairly packed and busy so there may possibly be a wait. Fortunately we didn’t have to wait because we were just 2 so it was pretty easy to get seated. The seating may be small and not as spacious but that’s kind of what makes it fun. There’s really no price, but like with some AYCE sushi places, you get charged at the end based on the amount of skewers you get. So when choosing your food, note that they’ll have different amounts of skewers in it.
Definitely some great food that is currently the only restaurant I know of offering this type of experience that is only mainly seen in China.
Each skewer $1.30 for normal, but with membership it is $1
(some items have two skewers on them so be mindful).
Alcohol pricing:
bottle beer $7
asahi super dry +$1
soju $13.99
Sauce included, but 99 cents each. Charcoal $3.99
Interesting business model. Also tied to other chubby businesses as well as Mikiya.
Meat quality could be a bit better, but it is definitely a pretty fun, casual meal to eat and slowly grill your food!
Parking can be tough during peak hours.
You can go to fetch the skewers yourself and each table has an oven to cook the stuff you brought. I felt all the lamb, chicken, vegetables are great, beef is a little bit salty for me but beef tough is good.
It’s an amazing experience to enjoy the cooking yourself and each skewer costs only $1
We signed up for the annual membership ($58) and got 10 free skewers and free coal and free spices. Plus 30 free skewers on my birthday! I think I can also use it at all Chubby locations like the hotpot, bbq, even Mikita and Mott 32!!
Lily was our server and she was amazing and very helpful.
Will definitely visit again!
Meat was pretty good and if you have membership the price is pretty decent as well. Without it, the price is nothing too special.
Place is generally kind of crowded, table and chairs are a bit small for my liking. A bit of rowdy place or maybe I just got in on a really busy day with a 30 person party from CES ( Really long wait and loud group of people)
If you have membership AND wants a bit of fun cooking with fire experience , then this can be a good choice, otherwise sticking with normal-cooked-for-you place is just as good and same value.
Skewers grilled boldly over open flames paired with beer make the perfect combination.
For Americans, the chairs may feel a bit too small and low to be comfortable, but everything else was great.
The prices were also very reasonable.
our server was really friendly and give good recommendations.
it may seems like $1.39/skewer is not a lot but the amount of food you get on each skewer is a joke. some of the squid skewer has like one tiny piece of squid tentacles. while the a5 waygu brisket got like 3 tiny cubes. and the .99/person for sauce was ok i just wish they have a dipping sauce and not just powder.
not worth the money- could just go to other waygu place. unless you looking for something that open late and this specific type of food.
the cucumber pickle was okay. i’ve had better but ordered it from the server recommended to use the sauce to dip the skewer in.
