Their signature curry blend features 25 different spices and comes in a variety of options, including premium wagyu beef, Japanese Wagyu Burger, beef tongue curry, and other specialties. The restaurant also offers top-quality fried katsus and udon dishes in a unique dining setting with a dimly lit ambiance.

Pretty famous Japanese curry house in Los Angeles. We stopped by for dinner and hsve to wait a bit. The interior is nice and the restaurant is kind of open concept where there is no door to get in.
The menu is simple with various type of meat and curry. The one caught our eyes was the roast duck curry. It is limited and the most expensive item on the menu. Since we are here we ordered it. The presentation on how the prepare it was nice where they smoke the duck when they serve it to you. It is served with sake infused curry and it was yummy. The duck it self not really tender but it was good.
The katsu is yummy the curry is also good. The fries was yummy. Our server was very nice and friendly. At the end we can’t finish all so got some duck to go. We went home with happy snd satisfying tummy.

The food was decent but nothing special. Our favorite is the fries. Curry flavors were mild and repetitive, the wagyu was slightly salty and didn’t really shine (maybe expectations were too high). With so many better curry spots in LA, this wouldn’t be a top choice.

I was excited about trying this spot but it didn’t hit the mark for me. It’s one of those places you wanted to try but won’t come back because you had better.

FREE 2 hour parking literally across the street from Chubby Curry in a cover parking structure.

SERVICE 4/5
Average service which was hardly anything since you order from an iPad and the food is brought to you – that simple

AMBIENCE 4/5
Awesome build out if you’re into manga/anime hence a display of figures on the wall and throughout the restaurant.

This was my second time visiting this restaurant. I ordered a beef curry, and my boyfriend had the fried pork cutlet curry. I felt the beef curry wasn’t as good as the pork cutlet one — the pork cutlet was really crispy and not greasy at all.
The food tasted good overall, and it’s a convenient option when you don’t know what to eat and just want a quick, satisfying meal.

The Chubby Group is known for its high-quality beef and BBQ restaurants, and I’m happy to say their take on Japanese curry is just as successful. The signature wagyu steak rice bowl was a standout—tender, flavorful, and satisfying slices of wagyu over rice that was delicious on its own. The mushroom curry was equally impressive: rich and comforting. Will come back!

The curry and katsu were really delicious! If you have a Chubby membership, make sure to show it to the staff before paying otherwise you won’t get the points.

This was my fourth time at Chubby Curry, and it just keeps getting better! This time, our server Anna made the experience even more special—she was incredibly welcoming and took great care of my family from start to finish. She recommended the gyudon, and I’m so glad she did because it was absolutely delicious! The beef was tender, flavorful, and perfectly paired with the rice.

Every visit here has been consistently great, from the friendly service to the amazing food. If you’re looking for comfort food done right, Chubby Curry is the place to go. Can’t wait for visit number five!

This is honestly the best curry rice I’ve had in years! The restaurant has a cozy and clean interior, and I loved the collection of anime figures on display — you can really tell the owner put a lot of heart into the place ✨. I read in the reviews that the chef used to work at a Michelin restaurant, and honestly, I believe it!

We ordered the pork cutlet curry and the wagyu beef curry. The pork cutlet was perfectly fried — super crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside . But what really stood out was the curry itself — definitely not from a packet. It tasted slow-cooked, rich, full of flavor, with a strong and fragrant black pepper kick ️ . Absolutely delicious!

The wagyu curry was just as good — very tender beef and a generous portion ❤️. The servings were huge — the two of us couldn’t even finish both dishes. Great value for the price, and we left super full and happy .

I love Japanese curry, and I love that this place has a vegetarian version that’s not just plain curry sauce with rice! This dish came with carrots, peas, corn, tomato, mushrooms, and potatoes, and I love the addition of the tomato in the curry. The rice was fluffy and each grain was soft and separated. My partner got the beef curry and that looked good too! Waffle fries were well seasoned and crispy. Overall an A meal for me for sure. Decor is anime themed and super cute!

Great spot!

Chubby Curry has easy parking right in front, which is a big plus.
The staff are super friendly, and the food comes out fast.
The tonkatsu and chicken katsu were perfectly done, crispy on the outside and moist on the inside.
The curry was rich and flavorful, and I loved how the sides were separated.
The cucumber salad had a refreshing, tasty kick too.
Big portions, nice presentation, and cozy Japanese vibes make this place a must-try!
