Cute and cozy byo in the heart of Collegeville. Wide variety of menu options. Our table had mixed reviews, I thought the scallops and appetizers were excellent while my husband ordered the salmon and didn’t care for it. They have indoor and outdoor patio seating. Great place to bring a bottle of wine and try out.

Went to Chow Bistro for the first time with my wife and sons. We were celebrating my birthday. My wife having seen some decent reviews, suggested we try it since they’re a short drive from home. The menu has a variety of selections, everyone will see something that appeals to them.
There were a couple of dishes that caught my attention. I settled on one of their Dinner Specials…Pan Seared Sea Bass cherry tomatoes coconut sauce, spanish yellow rice, French green bean. I asked if I could substitute asparagus for the green beans, our server said that was fine. When eating out, Sea Bass is one of my go to meals. Ive had it prepared many different ways at many different restaurants. Striped Sea Bass, Chilean Sea Bass you name it I’ve probably had it.
What I was served at Chow Bistro was not Sea Bass and was not pan seared. The (fish?) I was served had no sear on it, the consistency was that of something that had been steamed. Sea Bass is flaky, not oily and it’s as thick (1 1/2 – 2inch) as a prime cut steak at a fine Steakhouse. The fish? I was served was approximately 1/4-1/2 inch thick of steamed mush. I found it to be inedible.
Towards the end of our meal our server came to check on us, she noticed I hadn’t eaten anything. She asked if I wanted a container for it and I told her that she could take it away. She asked if everything was OK. I explained to her that what I was served was NOT Sea Bass. She apologized and took the dish away. When she came back to the table she said she spoke to the kitchen. She said that they told her that what I was served was Branzino. Branzino is not a dish I order for myself, though I have tasted it. I’ve been to dinner with family and friends who do eat Branzino regularly. I know what it is. This was not any Branzino I’ve ever seen. I didn’t challenge what the kitchen told her. What would be the point? Our server took my dish off the bill, she asked if she could bring me something else from the menu. She did her best to try and make things right. She was very good. I left her my customary 20%+ tip.
Perhaps it was a type of Branzino I’ve never seen, locally sourced from Perkiomen Creek?
With so many options for dinner, Chow Bistro will not be one of those options! Not Recommended!

Always a 10/10! The food is amazing, dine in or take out everything I’ve tried has been so good! Definitely recommend the burrata crostinis and if the basque cheesecake is on the menu, you have to try! Food is great and the people are great!

1st time here. We had a lovely time out with friends. The atmosphere was more casual than I thought it was going to be. No linen table clothes like some of the pictures. That must have been a special occasion. We had paper napkins, which surprised my husband. The server was friendly. We started with grilled peach crostini. It was good it had bacon, ricotta cheese with a balsamic glaze. For dinner, my husband had the chicken piccata. He liked it. It came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I had the crab cakes. They were 2 huge crab cakes at least 1 inch thick, fries, and broccoli. I couldn’t finish it but it was delicious. My friends had the seafood pasta and the beef short ribs. We ended with a blueberry crumble and white chocolate mousse. We all had a good time. This place is BYOB, so bring a couple bottles of wine if your a group and enjoy.

Server was stern , gloomy , and it seemed as if he really did not want to be there at work. It was our first time at the Chow Bistro and although our food was good ( seafood pasta and stir fry with shrimp)we did not feel welcomed by our server. Perhaps he was having a really rough day.

My husband and I came for Valentine’s Day dinner. They had a set menu for $75/person. The food was worth every penny. I started with cajun shrimp polenta bites, which were full of flavor. This should go on the regular menu! We both ordered a filet mignon steak, and it was cooked perfectly tender. The only thing I thought was bland was the whipped potato, but I saved the chive butter that came with the dinner rolls and boom – fixed. We finish our meal with the flour less chocolate cake – so rich and delicious! It’s BOYB, which was great.
Our server did a decent job considering how crowded it was. Towards the end of our meal, nearly every table was occupied.
There’s plenty of parking outback. The restaurant inside is very “intimate.” The decor is a bit overdone and lacks harmony. There are some nicely done features within and also some no so nice DIY looking workmanship. I wouldn’t personally come back for the atmosphere, but I live too far for takeout, so the food would win me over.

If I could give 0 stars i would, I called on January 9th to make reservations for 8 people on valentines days 2026 woman took my name we chatted about how we wanted to come last year but they were closed for renovations, showed up with 8 people to be told we don’t have a reservation for you, i asked to speak to the woman who took reservation and was told no. they would not accommodate us. This was absolutely the worst customer service and i will never return and nor will the other 6 people who were there, we have spread the word about how we were treated and i will never recommend this place they cant be trusted to hold your reservation.
