I didn’t personally visit this place, but had recommended to my boyfriend for a late night steak in Glenwood Springs. I’m reviewing on behalf of him because he couldn’t have said enough about the service and quality of food at Chops. He said the steak was huge, perfectly cooked, and the portions of the sides were generous. He said the staff was friendly, welcoming, and quick. Its rare to hear the guy give compliments to a steak he didn’t cook himself, so I am genuinely impressed. So happy to hear a local business impressed the guy so greatly, you definitely made a repeat customer.
He will absolutely be back.

Walked in on a slow Sunday night and sat at the bar. I liked the variety of tap beer and I really enjoyed my filet except that then chef’s medium rare was a little rarer than I like. The mashed potatoes were clearly homemade and the asparagus were also pretty enjoyable. The service was attentive, friendly and personable. Would return, would recommend.

Chops was the best restaurant I’ve been to in Glenwood in a while. Don’t let the negativity of the past reviews keep you from giving this place a shot! The food was spot on and the drinks Were delicious as well and for the service, FANTASTIC! We will definitely be back and will tell people about this hidden gem! Thank you chops!

AMAZING it’s our honeymoon and we chose this place because of the steak. Our server was nice, drinks were good, and so wss the food. I would come back here EVERY night of our trip if we could afford it. The chef gave us a free dessert for our celebration. He talked to all of the guests and was very kind. Will come back every time we come to glenwood.

WOW, if you are in search of a great new destination you’ll find it here, my husband and i did. The steak AND chicken were both beautifully cooked to surpass our expectations! We loved it, not to mention the owner arriving at our table to make sure food was good and big time kudos on the KEY LIME PIE, WHOA BEST IN COLORADO!!!!

The wait was lengthy, and we were the only one in the restaurant! We ordered chicken fried steak, and there was no taste, other than perhaps the taste of cream of wheat. The sides to the salmon dish were over cooked and very bland. I love asparagus and couldn’t even eat it! The service was lackadaisical. If I was a different person, I would have walked out without paying. I have never felt that way about a meal. Giving a one star is generous.

We found this place due to a Groupon. The menu seemed great on paper. We came in on Tuesday night, we questioned if it was even open or as fancy as their prices suggest. We were disappointed. I will explain why.
Groupon: We had purchased a deal called the Ultimate Date Night. Two movie tickets and a $100 restaurant voucher. Under the voucher, it listed Chops as one of the restaurants who accepted this voucher. That was not the case. The manager who did try to work with us explained that they were not supposed to be on there and the only thing they did have was a $25 coupon off $75 that she could apply…
Service: We walked in and the waitress who was nice was the only waitress there so naturally when 2 other tables came in her hands were full. However, despite giving our drink orders, my husband and father got their drinks first and I received mine about 10 minutes later. She took our order and we waited about 10 minutes or so for our food.
Food: The food was mediocre. The menu was misleading with how expensive the food was compared to what we actually got. My father ordered the Seafood Linguini. The pasta was over cooked, the sauce bland on seasoning and mushrooms were clearly canned and not fresh as to what I would expect a $21 pasta dish to cost. As for the seafood, there were 3 shrimp..My husband ordered the chicken fried steak. For an $18 dollar dish, it was not worth it. Eating the chicken steak tasted like aver done dry seasoning. The mashed potatoes were bland, again and the gravy you could tell had been sitting for a while. I asked him if he would order it again, he said “Absolutely not! I would never order this or recommend it.” Now for my dish, I ordered the sirloin. $22 dollar dish. I have had many steaks so I do know what to expect. I ordered it medium rare with the cilantro lime rice and steamed broccoli. The steak was large, which was nice considering the price. The cook on it was all over the place, it was (from the outside in) medium well, medium then medium rare. The 5 pieces of broccoli I got was tasteless, no seasoning what so ever, the rice was cooked well but as a reoccurring theme it was not very “lime” flavored and chopped up cilantro with the stems was dropped on top.
Restaurant: The restaurant looks OK from the outside, putting up a nice “Help Wanted” sign would look better than a blank piece of paper scribbled on with sharpie. When you walk in, you don’t know which side of the wall to walk around (the right side btw) and there is beautiful artwork, but a confused setting. It did not read expensive, good food, sports bar. It came off as pizza place mixed with last minute bar, mixed with a cheap restaurant. Tables and chairs did not match, lighting blinded you, there was poor placement of the TV’s, strange music for a steakhouse and it overall felt like an after thought. Very disappointing.
Overall: I commend the waitress and manager for trying to work with us about the Groupon. The food was very very mediocre, and absolutely not justified with the high prices they were charging. The whole restaurant itself seemed like a bunch of thrown together ideas. You have an itty bitty bar in the far back corner, you have tables and chairs that don’t match, nor give off the vibe of fancy, expensive steakhouse. The music was a mix of 90’s and 2000’s music and the TV’s we’re on sports channels which was not bad but if the game is on, I would hope to hear that instead of a terrible rendition of an Elton John song. I would not come back to this place, nor will I recommend it but I do highly recommend the staff there.

Not cut out for large groups (8 adults 3 kids) The food was just ok, definitely overpriced. The thing that ruined our experience was the wait. From the time we ordered until we had our food, was about 50 minutes. About 10-15 minutes after we ordered, 2 other tables were sat and they got their food before us. When we asked about it, we were told it’s because of our large group and they were trying to get all our food out at the same time. We had to ask for the kids meals to be brought out early because the wait was so long and the kids couldn’t wait.

Superb experience across the board. Giant, I mean GIANT porterhouse. Over 2 pounds on a sizzling platter with salads, sides and pizazz under 50? Yeah. Band was wonderful. Called Guilty Pleasures. Soft, smoky, classy. And to top it off bottle service for wine is almost too cheap. We drank a 25 dollar Petit Serah that was amazing. I urge others who see this and visit them to post your findings too. They deserve it. Small mom and pop. Only non family member on staff is the full time server / wine guy. Loved it.
