Reviews
We were warmly welcomed and seated even though we arrived early. Since it was our first time visiting, we received complimentary tuna tartare, which completely melted in my mouth.
For our starter, we ordered the escargot stuffed mushrooms. They were good, though not our favorite. For the main course, I had the prime rib along with a pink lemonade cocktail, which I highly recommend. My birthday boy ordered the filet mignon with trio sauce. We were also curious to try the Neptune topping, made with crab and baby scallops, and it paired perfectly with the steak.
For dessert, we ordered cheesecake, but we were pleasantly surprised once again with a complimentary chocolate fudge cake that had “Happy Birthday” written on it, along with a card signed by the lovely staff. If I understood correctly, the card also gives us a discount on a future visit!
I highly recommend Chop Steakhouse, especially if you’re celebrating a special occasion. They truly make your evening even more memorable than you expect. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
The steak bite appetizer was masterfully prepared, with a crispy exterior giving way to a juicy interior, served with a side of spicy golden mustard sauce that elevated the flavors to new heights.
The bread was freshly baked and crispy, accompanied by a generous helping of whipped herbs butter that added a touch of luxury to our meal.
We also savored the birria spring rolls, which featured tender braised beef and a spicy and sour dip that left us wanting more.
The escargots stuffed mushrooms were hot and full of flavor, with my husband remarking that they were even better than on our previous visit, a testament to the chef’s dedication to excellence.
For our main courses, my husband chose the medium-rare 9-ounce prime rib with a baked potato, while I opted for the medium-rare 9-ounce prime rib with hot and crispy yam fries, both dishes cooked to perfection. We both finished our meals with cheesecake, his topped with chocolate sauce and mine with raspberry sauce, a sweet and satisfying conclusion to our dining experience.
Unfortunately, we were unable to finish the vegetables, baked potato, yam fries, and cheesecake, so we took them to go, grateful for the opportunity to enjoy them later.
The restaurant thoughtfully provided us with a full set of disposable cutlery, napkins, and two separate bags, a considerate touch that made our departure feel seamless. Our total bill came out to $254, including tips, a worthwhile investment in an exceptional dining experience.
Our server, Deborah C., provided outstanding service, demonstrating
a friendly demeanor, extensive knowledge, and efficiency throughout our meal, making our evening truly unforgettable.
The food quality and service were significantly improved from our last visit, and we eagerly look forward to returning soon, inspired by the culinary mastery and exceptional hospitality we encountered.
The Dishes
Crab Cakes (or similar fried cakes) with Herbed Aioli & Fresh Greens
Beautifully crisp on the outside with a satisfying golden crust, these cakes broke open to a tender, well-seasoned interior. The herbed aioli swirled around the plate added a bright, zesty lift, while the arugula, radish, and pickled onion salad brought a refreshing acidity. A lovely way to restart the day after hours of airport fatigue.
Prime Rib Set Plate with upgraded size
This was the standout comfort dish of the evening. The prime rib arrived beautifully rosy in the center, with a glossy jus draped over the top. Each bite was rich, tender, and deeply savory. The mashed potatoes were creamy and smooth, classic steakhouse style and the roasted vegetables added a touch of sweetness and balance. After airport stress and fast-food grazing, this felt downright restorative.
Wild Mushroom Cheese Dip
A warm, indulgent surprise. The mushroom dip came bubbling in its skillet, layered with earthy mushrooms, melted cheese, and a subtle herbiness. Paired with crisp crostini (some with garlic herb butter), it was decadent without being heavy. A perfect happy-hour shareable.
Crispy Birria-Style Spring Rolls
These had a satisfying crunch, with a flavorful shredded beef inside. The dipping broth added richness, and the cilantro crema underneath brought freshness. A solid appetizer, fun to eat and full of texture.
Service & Atmosphere
Even though we sat in the lounge bar during happy hour, the service didn’t skip a beat. Drinks came quickly, plates were cleared promptly, and the staff checked in just the right amount. Considering we arrived frazzled from a day of travel chaos, their calm and friendliness made a noticeable difference. The lounge has a modern yet cozy vibe, dim wood tones, comfortable seating, and a conversational hum that made the space feel inviting.
Overall
Chop Steakhouse & Bar delivered exactly what we needed: comforting, well-executed dishes, attentive service, and a relaxing atmosphere. It may not be pushing culinary boundaries, but everything was thoughtfully prepared and satisfying. After an exhausting airport ordeal, enjoying fresh, flavorful food instead of more fast-food options felt like a small luxury.
Appetizer: steak bites, garlic shrimp, cocktail shrimp and crab cakes
Entrees: Ribeye for two, filet mignon
As a complimentary gesture for my birthday, we received a chocolate mousse with a generous helping of whipped cream and a birthday card signed by the Chop Steakhouse team, which was a lovely touch.
Throughout the meal, our server repeatedly inquired about our main course selection at five-minute intervals, following the serving of the steamed mussels and mushroom risotto, displaying a desire to please. The ambient music was excessively loud, rendering conversation difficult and making it challenging to hear our server’s remarks, but we chose to focus on the positive.
My hubby said, ‘The lady who sat behind us was extremely noisy, louder than the music, and the man who sat behind my husband smelled strongly of Chinese medicine oil,
which gave my husband a headache.’
Notably, we were not greeted or wished a happy birthday by the staff during our meal,
but we remained understanding.
Ultimately, we were disappointed with the decline in food quality and service standards, which fell short of our expectations, but we left with a sense of hope for future improvements.
The food overall was decent — the escargot was very good — but our experience was significantly affected by the service. Oh and the portion of cheesecake is too small compare to the chocolate cup 🙂
Our table was served by a young woman with long black curly hair. From the moment we were seated, we had to wait a long time just to receive water, while she appeared very attentive and caring toward tables with older guests, but largely ignored our table.
My brother’s prime rib was served cold, and the zucchini side dishes were also cold. When we called for service, another woman wearing a vest — whom I assume was the manager — stepped in and handled the situation professionally and cheerfully, immediately replacing my brother’s steak. That was a big positive.
Unfortunately, our main server only came to our table three times during the entire three-course meal, briefly asking “everything ok?” and then disappearing again. She often walked away before listening to our full response and was nowhere to be found when we needed assistance. The restaurant was not a full house tonight, so it was disappointing to feel so overlooked.
Her attitude made us feel disrespected, and I honestly couldn’t help but wonder whether it was because we were two young Asian diners that we were not treated the same as other guests. Even when I asked her where the restroom was, she responded with a cold and unfriendly expression, which felt quite uncomfortable.
While there were highlights in the food, the poor service completely ruined our dining experience. If I ever return to Chop Steakhouse in the future, I would definitely not want to be served by her again.
The prime rib was the most tender, soft, and perfectly cooked piece of meat I’ve ever had — so flavorful and delicious. The burger was also fantastic. The food and drinks were amazing, and I left feeling truly happy and appreciated. Highly recommend Chop Steakhouse for any special occasion!
