Came to Choo Choo BBQ on a Tuesday around noon ordered the 1/2 slab meal. 2 sides were green beans and fried potatoes. Took a while to get the food, and ribs were definitely worth the wait sides, not so much.

First visit for lunch. Got BBQ plate, meat was moist needed sauce for flavor, baked beans was like pork n beans, slaw was good, and the potato & onions side was good. Order at counter and they bring to table.

First time stopping in on my way to Chester Frost. My whole family loved their meals. The only thing that I didn’t particularly love was the okra tasting like it has sugar in the breading. Don’t get me wrong, it was still delicious, just wasn’t expecting it and personally love it fried in a traditional batter. The girls up front at register were very polite and beamed with a positiveness about them that you don’t find often. They had on Christian themed shirts and radiated something Christ-like in their presence. Nice to see young folks like that. Service went smoothly and quickly. Everyone ate everything off their plates. Even had to order coconut cake to go. Haven’t found a coconut cake so similar to how my aunt always makes one and it was a nice treat. Will be back when I am in the area.

The food quality is declining. Twice in the past 6-months, we’ve waited over 30 minutes in their drive-through. Today – waited 15 minutes behind one other car, only to be told, ‘sorry, we’re not taking any more drive through orders today because we have a lot of new people working’. How does this place stay in business doing this?

We ordered online today for pickup. We went through the drive thru, the woman read off our order, which was correct what she read. However, when we got home with the food, we were missing brisket on a three meat combo that was $28. The other two parts of the combo were little pieces of chicken tenders and a sad piece of catfish. I’ve been to this place many times over the years, and they have messed up other orders, and I usually just shrug and deal with it. However, for the price of this combo to not get the main big meat and the rest to be a sad excuse for a portion, my son went back to let them know with a picture of the box of what we got. They have a sign that they do not give refunds and you have to bring the food back with you for them to fix their mistake. NO EXCEPTIONS. Well, if you have to put that sign up, then perhaps you are making that many mistakes.
In the end, the OWNER is there, said they did put the brisket in there and so essentially called us liars. No refund on a very expensive plate that did not have the main part of it, but they sent him out with some brisket, even though he apparently believes we are lying about the whole thing. My son did not get pictures of his plate and my plate which who would think you would even need that? We will never return again and I will advise anyone I come across that this restaurant is less than it used to be. If you need a good BBQ joint that is nice and helpful, Off the Grill has been our go to lately. They were closed, hence how we ended up at Choo Choo to put the last nail in the coffin of this relationship.

After reading reviews, I find we aren’t the only ones with food related problems. The pork potato does not include pulled pork. It’s chunks of tough pieces of meat. The potato underneath was decent but smaller than competition in town. We had banana pudding for dessert – inedible. No flavor at all and was more like a cornbread-pudding clabbered texture. It was terrible waste of $3.99. This was delivered by DoorDash and our 2nd attempt with this restaurant. 1st visit over year ago, was a to-go order for a picnic and it was also poor quality. Had hoped things changed this time. Should’ve chose somewhere else. Will not return.
