Food was very good and tasted genuinely homemade and fresh, not processed or rushed. Everything we tried was well-seasoned and satisfying, and each bite felt like an explosion of flavor in my mouth without being over the top. The staff was a big highlight. Even during a busy lunch rush, everyone stayed friendly, hardworking, and respectful. Service didn’t feel irritated or rushed, which says a lot when a place is clearly slammed. They handled the crowd well and kept things moving smoothly.
The atmosphere is something to be aware of before going. It’s very loud and chaotic, especially when busy. Lots of noise, movement, and energy all at once it can feel like a symphony of emotions depending on your tolerance for crowds. If you’re looking for a quiet or relaxed meal, this probably isn’t the best spot. If you enjoy lively, high energy environments, you’ll fit right in.
Overall, it was a very good experience. Great food, solid service, and a high energy atmosphere. I’d definitely come back, just knowing what kind of vibe to expect next time.

This spot has a very touristy vibe but offers a nice ambiance with good music and friendly service. The food could use some improvement — the shell of our taco salad was a bit greasy — but we appreciated the vegetarian options on the menu. The chips and salsa were just okay, but overall, we had a good time.

Amazing experience at Cholo’s! We ordered the nachos and quesadillas, and both were absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned. Everything was perfectly prepared and tasted amazing.
What really stood out was our waiter, Keila. She was friendly, attentive, and professional, making sure we had everything we needed and checking in at just the right times. Her great service truly enhanced our dining experience.
Highly recommend Cholo’s for great Mexican food and outstanding service. We’ll definitely be back!

THEY CHARGE MORE IF YOU USE A CREDIT CARD.
Better establishments NEVER do this. A business has many expenses; the credit card merchant fee is one of those expenses. That cost should simply be “baked in” to what they charge. I would have NO problem if they raised their prices accordingly, but like most people, I hate “EXTRA” or any “ADD-ON” fees. So far, they do not add a surcharge, for straws, napkins, the bathroom, or their parking lot.
The food here is terrific. They have a nice patio area so you can sit outside or inside. I love their hardshell tacos. Probably the best I’ve ever had. The Service is excellence. The other Mexican food here is also good. You can get real Mexican or Tex-Mex, your choice. The bathroom is a common one associated with the strip mall. It is overdue for some improvements, (The bathroom is NOT controlled by Cholo’s.) But remember, bathrooms are always a problem in Hawaii.
I won’t be coming back until they stop charging extra for using a credit card. It’s a shame, the food is terrific.

We shared a large nacho platter. It contain a nice variety of items. We ask if they had guamole, she brought a small container and we were charged $7 and &5 for a small side of sour cream. A glass of soda was $4.50 but did give free refills

Great Mexican restaurant in the North Shore. The staff here are all great and friendly.
Their dragon fruit margarita was tasty and would love to get it again. The fish are freshly caught and are great as tacos.
They started to do Karaoke on Saturday nights after the restaurant closes for the night. Great place to get a drink afterhours.

I ordered a platter of 20 tacos and sides to feed myself and 5 of my friends for a girls night. Not only was the food DELICIOUS, but the staff was so so so friendly. Shawn met every need with no hesitation. Girls night was a success!

Good food…chips don’t seem home made, but the salsa is excellent. And I’ve never tasted such delicious guacamole outside of my home. My chimichanga was pretty good, but my wifes schrimp taco was delicious. Service could be better…it wasn’t even busy!
