I am visiting friends in Charleston, SC and they referred me to Choices to get a fresh latte and meals. This is a true gourmet deli. I met Barbara and Fabio and their two children this morning. They are from Italy. Fabio is the full-chef. He bakes and makes everything fresh. He is making bread as I write. Barbara just made me the most delicious latte and fresh yogurt and fruit parfait! Delicious! They stock their cases daily with full meals, sides, pastries, home made pizza’s. You all need to come by here. Its also a great place to take a walk. They sell beer and wine -many Italian and deli sandwiches on Fabio’s breads!

I love this place! I found it as I was looking for a grocery store near Park Circle, but wanted a place where I could order food also. It’s an Italian grocery with essentials for making a homemade Italian dish. They carry prepared fresh and frozen home-cooked meals like lasagna, turkey bolognese, spaghetti, and soups that you can take home and heat up; coffee drinks, breakfast, pizza, and sandwiches that you can eat in or for take-out. They also have amazing desserts! I tried the Strawberry Delizia. So good! Light and not too sweet. I tried the Caprese on Ciabatta and Tiramisu today. The Caprese was larger than what I was expecting, fresh, and delicious, as was the Tiramisu!

The second stop on my birthday celebration tour of food was this lovely little place. I had heard so many great things and every one is true! They carry a small but obviously carefully curated range of Italian groceries, including truffle oil, dried pasta, olives, wines and beers.

They have chilled wine and beer you can enjoy with your meal on site, so I got a nice bottle of Prosecco to share with hubby. We didn’t finish it so the charming owner capped it so I could finish it at home.

The deli shines, with quality meats and fresh-baked treats. While the nice man behind the counter made my cheese and meat tray for 2 to go, I ordered a club sandwich and hubby got the chick parm. Both were loaded with meat and so flavorful and satisfying. The bread was so fresh and soft. I saved half my sandwich because it was HUGE!

I had to try a dessert because it was my birthday and I struggled deciding between the Limoncello cake imported from Italy and the lemon-blueberry cake made fresh in-house, but eventually went with the local option. It was a winner! Moist, luxurious, not too sweet, and tangy with fresh blueberries, it paired amazingly well with the Prosecco. It was heavenly!

The owner was friendly and engaging, and made us feel right at home. He brought my charcuterie to go with some special extras (perfectly crisp thin slices of Italian bread, a mysterious red wine and cranberry chutney that had something else going on I couldn’t identify but it is cravable, nice deli mustard, and macerated spicy peppers in oil that were like WOW hot). I spotted some chicken salad in the case I had to have, as well as some bucatini that is my delicious dinner tonight with hubby’s homemade sauce and some white truffle oil I couldn’t resist.

This is a real gem of a place, and we will definitely be back again! Thanks for making my birthday special!

Wwe tried three sandwiches. The meatball sub was on crusty, toasted sub roll and had several meatballs in sauce and melted cheese. It was fantastic! The pastrami on the was lackluster in every way. The italiano was excellent. The meat was flavorful and delish.

Some of the best sandwiches and drinks I’ve ever had in South Carolina! The owner Mr. Van Nort is super friendly and has plenty of good recommendations about the city. My roommates come here every other week to buy the delicious pasta and cakes!
The whole place just feels like the best mom and pop shop I’ve ever been to!
Highly recommended!

A neatly stocked market with Italian items you don’t find in your typical grocery store. But let me not waste anymore time and get to the deli/bakery section. Amaretto cake, Chocolate Pistachio, Mimosa Límoncello, Tiramisu, and then Lasagna, Prosecco, wine, various beers, salads, tomato pie, soups, and endless other options.
The staff and owners are unbelievably nice and helpful.

This place is amazing!!! I actually got it on DoorDash and it was delish. I was sick and home with my 7 year old who loves when I make meat and cheese plates. This was such a treat for us and a beautiful work of art. I also ordered the caprese sandwich and the home made pesto may be one of the best things I ever tasted. It’s light, refreshing, perfectly salted. This Chef has it going on and is unbelievably talented. You gotta try this for your family and holiday guests. It’s so well priced too. You would spend triple making yourself just buying the cheese and the meats already rolled into beautiful roses and you get complementary homemade bread. You can’t go wrong with this. Place you holiday orders now. Excellent experience and made my day!!!!

What a surprising gem! Dropped the daughter off at orchestra practice and the deli I was planning to go to unexpectedly closed early so I stopped in here and everything about it made me smile. It reminded me of when my mom would take us to our local Italian market years ago. Great hard to find specialty items – Barretto onions in balsamic vinegar, caper berries in wine, truffle polenta, a nice olive oil selection and so much more! Italian wines to enjoy there or at home, a small but high quality fresh produce selection, and on and on. The owner was incredibly nice and to top it all off, the caprese sandwich was above & beyond my expectations.

The best compliment I can give – I told my dad he needs to bring my mom for a date night here. She’s full Italian and we have many good cooks in the family. I know she’ll love it!

Good selection of Italian wines and owner always helps us make a pick. The value is great too, many good options under $20. Try their rose prosecco special for around $10 – you won’t regret it!
