Café San Agustín is the place to go if you’re craving something sweet and absolutely magical. This churro spot is famous for a reason it truly lives up to the hype.
We tried a few different options, and my personal favorite was the Lechera. If you love caramel, you won’t be disappointed. A close second was the Cajeta, also delicious.
One note to take into consideration, this is a very popular place so don’t be in a rush when visiting, the staff put you on a waiting list and are super helpful. But bare in mind that you might need to wait 15 minutes.
A must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth!

Service is unfriendly, especially the older guy. And I came when it was half empty so there was no rush. They didn’t have any of the hot chocolates apart from the thin sweet one that other reviewers call “Nesquik”. So I opted for a couple of the filled churros. Despite just the filing costing $20 each it’s a very thin layer. Glad I saved myself standing in the queue for this.

San Agustín serves good churros. The place is so popular that you’ll likely have to wait quite a while, but the atmosphere is lovely and cosy, definitely worth the visit.

They serve upscale food. I had the stuffed chicken breast. It was good, but not great. My husband had the fajitas. The churros and chocolate we’re amazing. Nice quiet atmosphere, even though they are always packed.

The best churros I’ve had in my life. It was so addicting and just overall delicious. A lot of churros I’ve had before just feel too oily and I don’t go beyond 1 piece but this one, no. I could have had more pieces if I didn’t just come from a big meal. It was really that good.
We also had an iced latte and iced chocolate and they had different options for the chocolate but we for the iced one, I think this is the only option. It was the French chocolate one and it was also delicious. Perfectly refreshing and perfectly paired with the churro. I would go back to SMDA just for this alone.

My husband and I came for a hot chocolate and churros to end our anniversary trip. We were told to wait outside. The owner came and, after hearing my husband interpret for me, she asked “you don’t speak Spanish?” to which I replied “practicar”. We were not allowed inside untold a table became available. After some time we walked away and noticed there were several tables available. You can’t miss the owner since her glory days are posted all over the walls. Didn’t get to taste anything but I didn’t expect to be profiled especially since my husband is local.

Well it definitely lived up to it’s reputation as the best churros in SMA! I had a sencillo and a stuffed one with cajeta. It was really delicious and I highly recommend this place. Just keep in mind, they only take cash, no cards.
