I got three bowls for people and they were all equally terrible in portions.
I guess if you ordered a kids meal I’d understand but for a $15 / bowl – I can’t even get enough rice that would perhaps cover the whole bottom of the bowl? – are rations rough at this location?
I also get it was busy, but the crew can try to hide the grumpy faces.
#TeamQDOBA all day.
Chipotle on Maize Road (Wichita, KS) is consistently awful and clearly poorly managed. The staff is extremely slow, disengaged, and unmotivated. There is never more than one person working the food line and if so they work just as slow, even when the restaurant is packed. Everyone else stands around moving at a sloth-like pace while customers wait. They are constantly out of food. Why?! Refusing to “make sour cream” at 8:30 PM when they’re open until 10–11 PM is dumb.. that’s your job. Even the cooks move painfully slow, causing long waits every visit. We recently waited 30 minutes for a to-go order that was never made. The place was full of people waiting, and only then were we told they were out of rice. No apology. No solution. Another time we waited 10 minutes for fresh carne asada, only for the employee to ignore the fresh batch behind her and scoop older meat from the to-go line instead. Completely pointless!! To-go orders are always skimpy, with very little meat. Full price for half portions. The restaurant is never clean..dirty tables and overflowing trash cans. And if you ask for a refund, they can’t do it in-store. You’re told to call 1-800-Chipotle, where gift cards aren’t refunded..only food vouchers and customer service representatives you can’t understand! This location shows zero respect for customers’ time or money. Avoid it!!
Every visit follows the same script: dirty counters, a line that keeps growing, and exactly one (yes 1 single) person running the entire food line… whether there are 2 people waiting or 20. On this visit, it took roughly two full minutes to wrap a single burrito, which would be impressive if it weren’t happening while everyone else just stood there watching time slow down.
The employee heating tortillas appeared to be on standby for moral support only, offering no assistance. Meanwhile, the cashier disappeared into the back for about 10 minutes, leaving completed food sitting there getting cold while customers awkwardly waited, wondering if we were supposed to ring ourselves up.
To be clear, this isn’t a one-off bad day. This is every single time I come here. I genuinely feel bad for the employees who are clearly understaffed and unsupported, but as a customer, it’s exhausting. Chipotle is supposed to be fast and casual, not a slow, contemplative dining experience where you have time to reflect on your life choices.
Consistently disappointed… and confused how this location operates this way so regularly.

8:02 PM. They were out of guacamole, and pico. with 3 hours left in daily operation, clearly they didn’t want to make any. Still.. 1 person operating the line, making food and ringing out. It took me 28 minutes to get 1 burrito and 1 quesadilla. She even had the nerve to hand someone back change, counting cash, and NOT change her gloves. The GM of this store needs fired, immediately
Came back, thought id give y’all another chance, and u guys were holding my order hostage on ur little shelf behind the register while i stood there for twenty minutes and had already told a worker my name. my order was sitting there… just close atp, the food is good but the workers consistently sabotage this location. i work in the food service industry, i get it, but this is literally so horrible. i dont wanna go to a dif location for better service i want this fully able store to better itself holy hell.
Showed up last night to order 3 burrito bowls and a salad. I live on the east side but had been out west… The chic working the line was clearly miserable and acted beyond annoyed and upset at any and all of my requests for food, in general, and the various ingredients as she filled the bowls.
The food station was absolutely despicable. Completely unacceptable. There was crap smeared all over the counter and the containers of food were old, dried up, and contained numerous fragments and splatters of neighboring ingredients.
The chic had crap smeared all over her gloves and continued to wipe more onto them by wiping off (smearing food across) the counter, and then proceeded to handle my burrito bowl containers, leaving them looking like they came out of the trash can. This was the whole way through filling the bowls.
She literally flung the spoonfuls of food into/onto the bowls as she went. It was nearly a crime scene.
When I got to the register, I asked for her name. No one was wearing name tags. The cashier asked why. I said because she handled my food and I’m a customer and I want to know who served me. He declined, saying he can’t give me that info. I asked for a manager.
After a bit, the manager came out. I told him that that display (the food station and the person running it) is absolutely disgusting, that she was literally flinging the food into the bowls, she looks miserable to be at work, and all the food looks like it’s been there for days.
He said he “isn’t trying to make excuses” but that it’s because they’re understaffed and trying to keep up, and that he’s the GM!
I told him I know how that goes as I’ve worked fast food before, but that it was completely unacceptable. I told him I’m not paying for the bag of food and going to a different Chipotle, and I left it there.
He attempted to apologize and say he’ll “have a talk with his employee about her conduct,” but if THAT was the GM and that place was that despicable and poorly ran with him being present, then they simply need to go home, stay home, and close up shop. It’s not getting any better.
STAY FAR AWAY from this location.
Afterward, I migrated over to the 29th & Rock location for a completely pleasant experience – as usual. The food station was so fresh and clean! I tipped the young man running the food station for his kindness, cleanliness, and neatness filling our bowls. I thanked the staff and relayed to them the horrendous experience we had just had out west.
