Tried the new Chipotle in town last night for the first–and last– time.
The food quality was okay but it seems that most of the items the servers suggest adding to every entree trigger a surcharge. Guacamole? Extra. Queso? Extra. By the time we were through the line our meal was far more expensive than a similar meal at a locally owned Mexican restaurant.
In terms of atmosphere, there is none. The furniture it typical brutalist style with half of the seating comprised of raised stools anchored into the floor. The ceiling is exposed plywood and you can spy extra pieces of 2×4 left behind during construction scattered around the perimeter. The walls are bare. Really waiting for this trend of brutalist interior design to die off. Not every restaurant needs to have the warmth of a prison dining room.
The food was okay but lacked flavor. The queso was bland with the consistency of warm mayonnaise. Nothing stood out as being exceptional (as in “exceptionally high”) save for the price.
Next time we’ll go to Hacienda Cantina instead. Much better overall experience and it’s locally owned.

New store in Pekin. Been there twice for takeout and was excellent. Tonight, we dined in. Service was not super friendly. All the proteins seemed to be out or super dry. When they asked the cook about more protein, he seemed to be annoyed and had attitude. I got the carne asada steak. Flavorful but quite dry. The rest of my bowl was great. The portions are alot better than the East Peoria location.

Food was cold, my cheese, quaeso blanco was hard, looked like cottage cheese. Order was wrong, lid said the mixings but was missing three items. If your wanting to try the Pekin location I would advise to drive to Peoria or go to Mo’s in east Peoria. The restaurant is new to the Pekin area but the quality is almost as bad as Taco Bell. ENJOY.

Only one table clean enough to sit at and the steak for burrito was cold( maybe it supposed be) I would prefer hot meat on my burrito, the dining room is industrial like and all the talking in room echos
Can’t really recommend this place

I eat Chipotle weekly and order the same thing every week, I was excited to actually get one close to home. After 4 tries, I drive past it on my way to East Peoria every week.
I dont understand how a chain can be so different from one location to the other. Portions here are small and cold, rice is under cooked along with the chips. Seasoning is different each time.
My last straw was when I was at the register to pay and was told I should be charged for double chicken. I didnt make it, nor order double chicken, and it was still a small portion of chicken in my opinion compared to any other Chipotle I have been to. Then poor guy that made it gets scolded about it in front of me. This will never last in Pekin, it will be ran into the ground in no time. The people that get this service and quality that have never been to a Chipotle will never come back, guaranteed. You get that 1 chance to make an impression.

One taco with steak. The steak pieces, there were exactly 6 pieces of steak, and they were so chewy I had to spit them back out. It was the worst taco I have EVER had. The white rice on my taco was undercooked and a bit on the crunchy side. I also had a side of chips and guacamole. The chips were dust, there were only a couple of chips that were whole chips, and the guac was brown, I thought they said they made their guac fresh everyday? It was brown, like dirt. I was too afraid to eat it as it was also a little on the soft/runny side. This is the only time, and the last time, I will ever eat at a Chipotle. It was by far the worst meal I have ever had and won’t be back. Maybe this was a one off but I am not willing to take any chances, it was expensive and not fit to eat. Super duper disappointing for being a new restaurant in town. Taco bell would have been cheaper and edible.

Ordered delivery a few times from this new location. The delivery service from DoorDash is good. The portion size and poor quality of food need to be reviewed at this location. The bowls are half full and burritos are small! The rice has not been properly cooked either time I’ve ordered from this location. The overall saltiness is also an issue.

I have been here a few times and each time is a different experience. So, first of all…. The day time staff is amazing. Friendly all around. From the ones making my food, to the cashier, to the grill, friendly and fun all around. It’s nice and clean and a very welcoming atmosphere. I’ve been in there a few times for lunch and it was all absolutely PHENOMENAL. Now, night shift…… Not friendly. Lots of acting like you’re an inconvenience to them. It’s slow, skimpy on ingredients, so much rudeness. It’s dirty. Lots of standing around doing nothing, besides messing around with each other or being on their phones. I guess I’ll be sticking with going their for lunch. It’s a much better vibe. Do yourself a favor and stick with the lunchtime crowd.

They have only been open for a few weeks. Definitely need to fine tune some things. Had to have a table cleaned to be able to sit down and eat. Was given a stale bag of tortilla chips which they happily replaced. Feel like the Peoria Chipotle was much better. Will revisit in the future to give a second chance. Hope they can get it together. Food was given in small portions and had to ask for a little more on a few of the items which they did give me a little more.

Went there for lunch the day after their first day. Service was extremely friendly and the workers were fast and efficient for a new restaurant. Lobby was fairly clean and was nice and bright. Landscaping is nice, can’t wait to watch it grow. They have a nice patio with a handicap accessible table as well. Pretty steady flow of people coming thru.
