★☆☆☆☆ Absolutely Soul-Crushing – Menlo Park Chipotle (Edison, NJ)
Do NOT come here unless you hate yourself and have several hours (and a chunk of your will to live) to burn.
We made the grave mistake of showing up for their “BOGO” offer, which apparently translated to “Buy One, Get One… eventually, maybe, if we feel like it.” The line was out the door and barely moving. After one hour and thirty minutes of standing like cattle, we finally reached the front… only to be told they were out of both types of rice AND all vegetables.
“White rice will be ready in 3 minutes,” the employee said with the confidence of someone who has never seen rice cook in their life. I literally set a timer. 32 minutes later there was still no rice. The vegetables? Never materialized. Not even a single sad piece of fajita pepper appeared the entire time we were trapped there.
Behind the counter were seven employees achieving new levels of organized chaos. Most just stood there staring blankly at the empty pans like they’d never seen them before. One woman kept wandering out from the back every five minutes to poke a thermometer into the meat (the only thing they actually had) as if temperature-checking chicken was the sole reason the store existed. No one was refilling anything because, well, there was nothing to refill and apparently no one knew how to fix that.
How do you run out of rice at Chipotle? How do you look at a 60-person line for a nationwide promotion and think, “Nah, we’re good on rice and veggies tonight”? How do seven people employed at a burrito shop collectively forget how to boil water?
We eventually got half-assembled bowls with cold meat, a spoonful of beans, and whatever toppings they hadn’t run out of yet.
This was our first time back in years. It will be our last time ever. I left feeling like part of my soul got left in that line. Menlo Park Chipotle didn’t just waste two hours of my life; it performed a ritualistic draining of my life force.
Zero stars if I could. Avoid this location like it’s contagious.

I come to this location a lot since I work nearby. In the past it has always been super dirty, and frequently out of stuff. Today was different. It was spotless and everything was full and fresh. I noticed a woman working there (believe her name was Cha Cha). She was amazing! She was so sweet and asked me how everything was while cleaning up and stocking everything! I could tell someone new was in charge. What a difference!!!

Every time I come here it’s always the same thing. I’m standing to place an order at the start of the line while 10 workers look at me and walk away. I’ve found it quicker to order pickup even though I’m literally in the store because I will legit stand there for 20 minutes without being helped. On top of that when it’s time to check out even though my bowl is made it’s like they fight over who’s going to ring me up. 45 minutes I spent today.

The portion size was great but half of my bowl was sour cream…food was decent and the service was good. The restaurant was relatively clean. It’s connected to a mall. There is free parking on the top deck (uncovered).

Horrible experience!!!!
I had a terrible experience at this Chipotle location today. We ordered four veggie bowls, and not only was the packaging so poor that everything leaked by the time we got home, but to make matters worse, I found a piece of chicken in my veggie bowl. This is completely unacceptable, especially because I follow a vegetarian diet for religious reasons. Cross-contamination like this shows a lack of care in food preparation, which is extremely disappointing. I expect better quality and attention to detail, especially from a brand that claims to accommodate dietary preferences. I will think twice before returning unless they improve their food handling practices.

This location is not well maintained. The grill where the chicken is cooked needs to be cleaned. The staff is not friendly and the location is understaffed. The eating area was unkempt and most tables haven’t been cleaned from the previous patrons. There were no tortillas for a burrito at a chipotle. They were also out of chips, lettuce, chocolate milk, ice and spoon. 1 out of 10 do not recommend, will not be back.

I have never had worse service at a Chipotle before in my life. The person behind the line was so annoyed with everything I asked for, which is ridiculous. I asked for 1 taco, which is readily available to order on the app with no special hoops or steps. The guy looked at me like I was crazy and asked me 4 times if I wanted 3 tacos. Repeatly told him 1 taco. He then proceeded to charge me full price for a bowl. 1 taco is less than $4. Why am I paying $10+ for a small portion? Never coming here again.

ZERO STAR. I went to this Chipotle in Menlo Park, Edison on Saturday, and it was a very frustrating experience. There was only one employee making the bowls, and he was extremely slow (he seemed new). This caused the line to move at a snail’s pace.

The other employee was at the register and also packing the food, and he kept rubbing his beard while doing so. That was really disgusting and unhygienic to see in a food service setting.

Because of the long wait and poor hygiene, I left without ordering. This location needs better training, staffing, and attention to cleanliness.
