What a delicious lunch experience !

From food to friendly staff and cooks! Our server greeted us as soon as we walked in. Offered us drinks while we looked at their menu. She was very knowledgeable about the dishes giving us suggestions that she thought it would be yummier (actually, everything seemed deli we couldn’t decide). Once we ordered it didn’t take long to enjoy our food and it was just as yummy as it looks. Fresh ingredients for sure! We certainly would be back!

I ordered a beef curry and I did NOT ask for extra black pepper. I asked for extra peas like I always had in the past. I enjoy spicy but when it makes your stomach feel on fire and makes your lips burn, that’s a bit much! I’ve ordered this in the past and it’s never been a oroblem until now. I miss the old staff. I need to find a new go-to restaurant. And no I will not pay for $20 for a meal that’s over spiced.

i went there January 14 2026, I ordered takeout and the orange chicken was not crispy or fully cooked, the shrimp fried rice was not fried it was only white rice mixed with shrimp, green onions, eggs and hard peas, i had to put soy sauce on it. the beef in the beef and broccoli was gummy. this is the worst Chinese restaurant in Hawthorne. do not eat here…

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. I live in South Orange County, and whenever I fly out of LAX, I always arrive early so I can eat at Chinese Friends schwan Restaurant. The two ladies who work there are always wonderful, and I genuinely enjoy talking to them. The food has always been great, and my favorite menu item has always been the Kung Pao Chicken.

However, tonight was a completely different experience. I ordered the same dish as always, but the food was slimy. I didn’t think much of it at first, but then I realized the chicken was raw. I informed the young lady working there, and they were apologetic and they took the item back to the kitchen. When they brought it out again, I started eating only to realize the chicken was still raw.

For the third time, they took it back and incredibly, they returned it a third time still raw.

Whoever was cooking had absolutely no idea what they were doing. If a customer sends food back even once, the kitchen should be checking it carefully before sending it back out—especially chicken. I worked in the restaurant industry for over 14 years, and you never send the same dish back to a customer once it has been returned. You remake it fresh and inspect it carefully, especially when dealing with raw poultry.

Once raw chicken is mixed with sauce, you cannot simply throw it back in the pan and expect it to cook properly. The sauce will burn before the chicken cooks thoroughly. This cooking 101. This is dangerous and can seriously harm someone.

I am flying to Washington, D.C. tonight, and I sincerely hope I don’t get sick on the plane. This was extremely disappointing, especially from a restaurant I have supported and visiting for long time.

Chinese takeout spot with a VERY toned down Szechuan spice. Came here for late night food and the lady was so nice!!! Dishes I recommend are string beans,Kung Pao chicken, and string beans. Im Chinese and thought the spicy szechuan chicken wasnt spicy at all, more like takeout style than actual szechuan. All the dishes need more garlic, onion, szechuan peppers, and chilli peppers to qualify as authentic szechuan food. Chilli oil on the condiments was too pickley. No this is not authentic szechuan food where everything is stir fried in mountains of spices. This is more like above average Chinese takeout with a twist and the service is excellent. Very good prices.

If I could leave negative stars for food, I would. General Tso’s chicken was literally the smell and texture of canned cat food. Spare ribs were like soggy socks, everything was absolutely inedible.
Do not go here if you care about your mental and physical wellbeing.HORRIBLE HORRIBLE FOOD!!! STAY AWAY!!!

Been here twice dined in the people here are very friendly. Small dining room clean. The food was good hot and lots of spice you can ask for more or less spice. I seen a few reviews who gave this place a 1 or 2 stating it was to salty on both visits I did not taste that. My orders both were hot with lots of flavor. This place did not disappoint me in anyway. The majority of thier business is pickup and there was a steady stream of locals constantly in and out for pickup of food. I think they deserve a 5.

If you want to throw away your money definitely consider coming here. The food is absolutely inedible. The family all agreed food went straight to the trash. It’s a shame too because we don’t like to waste food here. Keep in mind all sales are final and no refunds.

Once in a blue moon, I crave Chinese takeout.

I ordered General Tso’s Chicken and they delivered some sort *stir fried chicken* that could have easily been confused for tofu with an odd spongy texture. Extremely strange.

Even the rice was under cooked and crunchy.

Super disappointing and expensive – ended up eating a banana for dinner

Friendly service and huge portions. A little pricey, but this isn’t necessarily a fast food restaurant. A waiter came to seat me and take my order. My veggie lo mein didn’t take longer than 5 minutes to come out. I’m pretty satisfied with that.
