I used to be a loyal customer of this restaurant for over 10 years, and I genuinely enjoyed dining here and recommending it to friends and family. Unfortunately, one experience completely changed that. I once found a piece of metal from one of those Scotch-Brite stainless steel sponges in my food. The shock and disappointment I felt in that moment were beyond words. Food safety is non-negotiable, and finding something like that in a meal is not only dangerous but unacceptable.
Since that incident, I have refused to return, and I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this place to anyone. It’s incredibly disappointing to go from being a 10+ year loyal customer to feeling like I can no longer trust the restaurant to maintain basic hygiene and quality standards. I had hoped that management would take serious steps to prevent such occurrences, but my trust has been broken.
For anyone considering visiting, I would strongly advise caution. While the restaurant may have had good meals and service in the past, one major safety lapse like this overshadows everything else. Until they demonstrate real accountability and improved safety practices, I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Food was nasty! Spring roll not cooked. I ordered shrimp lo mein and they gave me shrimp fried rice. I called back to explain and the girl that answered says she is sorry and so I say, are you’
not gonna do anything for the screw up and she said sorry and hung up the phone

I love ordering from Chinatown though they only take cash, other than that there food is very good the person on the phone is very nice and when arriving there they have drinks that you could pay for with the meal you already order.

This was one of my favorite Chinese places for a long time but the last time we had it the taste and quality went down significantly. One of our dishes didn’t come with its sauce, pork fired rice had fat chunks inside, chicken & broccoli had zero flavor and the crab raccoons only had cream cheese couldn’t find any crab.

We’ve lived here for 2 yrs and have been pleased with the food we’ve ordered. However, we ordered dinner last Fri, and they were very busy. I was worried that perhaps the food would be rushed and not quality. We were blown away with the taste and quality! We ordered again for a family get together last night, which was a Wednesday. Again, the food was just amazing! Our daughter who lives closer to her usual Chinese takeout is going to switch to Chinatown.

I always test Chinese places by there sweet and sour chicken it was soggy and there sauce is watered down. I also tried the crab ragoon not impressed soggy as well and split open just a mess.

What happened to this place?
Original owners ran a far above the norm takeout restaurant. Food was ALWAYS top notch.
This was my go to for many years. No more. Now horrific. Go elsewhere. So disappointing.

I have ordered from Chinatown Shelton a few times recently, and I have been very surprised. The taste and quality seem to have improved considerably (not where it was years ago when they first moved here from Monroe, but much better overall).
I had replaced Chinatown Shelton with Little Chopsticks in the past, but now it seems both have switched places.
Little Chopsticks slid backwards, while Chinatown Shelton has improved. I have no clue as to how or why this happened – cooks, supply chain, different vendors, all play a part, I’m sure.
I just have been very encouraged by Chinatown Shelton recently, so I guess, I’m re-thinking my initial review.

We haven’t been here I’m years because of our last experience with our food. We decided to give it a try to see if anything changed. The food has gotten a lot better than last time. The only thing was we waited longer than expected for the food to be ready even though we ordered 20 minutes prior to showing up.
