This was my first time getting take-out from here and let’s just say I am beyond impressed! Huge portions and awesome flavor. Their Wonton soup was so good my 2 year old said, “WOW the soup is so good!” I consider myself a Wonton soup connoisseur. I ALWAYS order Wonton soup whenever it is sold at a restaurant. The broth at Chinatown express was rich, sooo full of flavor, and the wonton filling was delicious! I decided to try the salt and pepper wings and I was blown away with the flavor. I haven’t enjoyed wings that much in a long time. Their chowmein noodles were fresh and delicious. I also got the Mushroom Shrimp and Mixed Veggies. I liked them so much I didn’t even need to put soy sauce on them, and I’m a soy sauce fiend! Also ordered the House Fried rice and it was so full the top of the box wouldn’t fully close LOL. My son couldn’t get enough of the fried rice. I only gave the service 4 stars because we had to repeat our order about 4 times, but other than that they were very nice. The restrooms were clean and so was the atmosphere of the restaurant. Needless to say, I will DEFINITELY be coming back! Thank you Chinatown Express for such a yummy dinner.

Food is very bland and service is lacking. Felt ignored for the first 10 minutes just standing there while they talked among themselves. And they are stingy about giving you any hot sauces. Won’t not recommend coming here.

Just brought a meal at this place and got home to enjoy it. The food was horrible. COLD ORANGE CHICKEN. But I was there and saw them bring a fresh pan out. The meat was tough and hard. Can you say hard rubber. Had to chew it a thousand times. My teeth hurt from chewng so much to get my food down. The chow-main noodles were cold too. What, did the steamer break down? Terrible, Terrible, Terrible.
They one person serving the counter. As she was taking counter orders, she would stop and would get a phone order pick up. That was the low blow. People standing in line and some joker comes in for a quick CUT IN LINE WHY DON’T YOU. The process was slow. This ordering on-line thing is getting out of hand. It’s just another way for people to be lazy.
The prices may have going up but the service and food is taking a noise dive. It will be a long time before I order food there again, like years.
I posted a picture of the meal I didn’t finish. If you think it looks good, you’re right. It just looks good.

“I recently ordered from Chinatown Express, drawn in by the great reviews for their Orange Chicken, and while I had a mixed experience, there were some highlights.

The Orange Chicken was tender, well-coated, and didn’t drown in orange sauce. However, it lacked zest, leaning on the sweeter side. The fried rice and chow mein, unfortunately, lacked flavor altogether, and the chow mein, although thick, it was a tad too greasy.

On the bright side, the cream cheese wontons were a delightful surprise – generously filled, with a perfect texture and flavor.

While the main dishes left something to be desired, I would have to give it a 3, unfortunately. Chinatown Express had its moments, but there’s room for improvement.”

Update: today every employee was out of the door ten minutes before closing.. i really miss the wok experience that used to be at 17th and tustin.. they actually wanted to serve food to people.. hey owner.. hope you dont pay your employees like they put in a full days work..they dont.. they leave early..

Don’t put a sign on your door saying you close at 8:30 when you start putting food away 20 minutes earlier.. I mean I get it, who doesn’t want to be able to go home as soon as work is over. But that’s the thing.. you’re a restaurant. If you’re gonna stop serving at 8:00 change the hours on your door to 8:00.. I watched your employees turn away 2 different customers right now before your posted closing time so they could be out the door and on they’re way home by 8:39..

Food is pretty good. Price is great. We actually order their catering trays quite a bit. The price point is fairly good and the quality/freshness is very good. Also everyone that works there has been super helpful and nice when it comes to our ordering.

Delicious takeout in huge portions. Tip: some of their food does not last under the heat lamp, e.g. the BBQ pork. Great fresh, but bad if it’s been out for over an hour. The truly enormous portions are great for filling you up, and that, combined with some tasty options, are all I need for a great Chinese takeout place.

Delicious food and huge portions. I’ve been coming here since I was a little kid, before it moved. I live and Palm Springs and it’s worth the drive.
