We love the hot and spicy chicken dish. It tastes really good. But over the period of two months quality is degraded. Use to have roasted pea nuts and larger chilies which tasted really good are no longer in the dish. The quantity seems smaller too. Sad to see the our favorite dish does not have same quality.

Service was relatively attentive but tipping is mandatory and is set at a high amount. Food was very good and came in large portions. Does get pretty packed since the restaurant is small when it’s dinner hours.

You may feel disappointed at the time you step into this restaurant as its actual appearance is not as impressive as it is on the website. The restaurant is small , just a little bigger than a typical Chinese takeout. However you will be surprised when the dishes are served. The test was really authentic and good. However, one of the dishes, the green beans were either some what overcooked or reheated old ,did not tasted as it was supposed to be. Also, they served really fast, making me doubt whether they were precooked package food. Anyway the food tasted better than I expected.

They completely ruined my Chinese New Year dinner.

We arrived between 6 and 7pm, and the restaurant was understandably slammed since it was the day before Chinese New Year. There were four of us, and we planned to order about five dishes. After being seated for 10 to 15 minutes without anyone coming to our table, we noticed a QR code that said “Scan to Order,” so we assumed that was how we were supposed to place our order.

Shortly after we submitted it, a woman, who I assume is the owner, came to take our order and told us not to use the QR code. We immediately explained that we had already placed it. She let out an exaggerated sigh and said she would go fix it.

About 40 minutes later, she stormed out of the kitchen holding two tickets for our table, mumbling that the issue was because we ordered from our phone. She had already said she would fix it, so it was confusing and unprofessional for her to return nearly an hour later to complain about it. At that point, it also became clear that our food likely had not even begun to be prepared.

We received our first dish, cumin beef, about 20 minutes later. The second dish did not arrive until an hour after that. The pacing was completely off. We never even received our appetizer. When the green beans with minced pork finally came out, they were extremely salty, shriveled, and lacked any flavor beyond salt. After two hours, we had only received two dishes.

When my friend asked if our table had been forgotten, the owner came out and again blamed the delay on us ordering through the QR code. She claimed she had warned us that the food would take longer, which she absolutely did not.

We fully understood that they were busy and were willing to be patient. We also acknowledged that using the QR code may have caused some confusion. However, tables that were seated after us were already receiving their food. There is no reason dishes should have been spaced an hour apart. If we had stayed for the remaining items, we likely would have been there until midnight.

Overall, it was a terrible experience, not just because of the food, but because of the unprofessional service. The only consistent bright spot was the young man refilling our tea and water. We ended up leaving after the second dish, wasting three to four hours of our evening.

China Taste is one of our favorite places to go in Amherst. There are two dishes that we get consistently. The first is their stir fried cabbage in chili oil. The cabbage has great umami flavor while maintaining its crispiness. The second dish we almost always get is their mapo tofu. We order it extra hot because that’s how we like it but be mindful that it is really spicy. The tofu has great texture and the flavor is well balanced. The blend of fermented black beans and chili paste is wonderful and the spiciness comes more from the chilis than the Sichuan peppercorns. If you’re looking more for an authentic experience, this is absolutely the place to go. Service is always friendly and welcoming too.

They always encourage me to keep learning more. The food is just spectacular I hope you guys get all the business in the world

Hands down the best Chinese food in Buffalo! The portions are generous and the seasoning is incredibly authentic. It’s hard to find real Chinese food in the U.S., but this is the real deal. Awesome variety and super friendly service. We’re taking some dishes home and will enjoy it all weekend!

I rarely write a review, but my boys were really disappointed and I agree with them to use my account for this review: The take out portion size has to be studied for a war crime. They are like giving us rations for WWIII. $34 for a nuclear bunker tin can of food is quite diabolical. Like we can’t be for real right now. The Mongolian beef tasted very soggy and no flavor at all. Fried rice was ok but overall both dishes were prepared with little heart to our opinions. Well, we saw a review saying there is significant more serving size when you eat in than take out. It feels kind of unfair. Looking up the stars again, it made us think it could be just bad luck, but I’m sorry we wouldn’t try next time.

Eat in person rather than takeout! The portions r significantly larger and your noodles won’t soak up all the soup!
So good! And pretty affordable. Authentic as well! Nice and small quite comfortable. The staff IS SOOO KIND!!
I always get the malatang noodle soup when I come and it comes out on a flame to make sure it stays hot while eating. I used to always get beef brisket noodles before discovering malatang though!
Definitely very large portions. Shared between two people and still took home leftovers!
