Literally the best sesame chicken I’ve ever had. Hot and sour soup, beef chow fun, crab Rangoon, ma po tofu, curry chicken, all amazing. But that sesame chicken though… chef kiss

I put the 4 stars on atmosphere on purpose. This place is more about the food. You go to this place for the good food. Granted the lady taking our order was lovely, kind, and patient as we were first time visitors from Washington State staying in the hotel in the back yard. But florescent lighting and ceiling tiles… This isn’t sit down for your first date atmosphere. You get it to go and take your date to a beautiful location and blow them away with the delicious food.
Our containers were full to the brim. The food is delicious. I have zero complaints about service or food. If you are craving Chinese food, you won’t be disappointed.

China Star 2 is probably one of the better Chinese food places on the island. Honestly, the food is consistent which is what we care about. However, I would never get delivery, it should always be picked up. When it is picked up, it’s always hot, fresh and good. But this is the third time we’ve gotten a delivery that took about an hour, on a slow night where we live five minutes away. I called and was told 20 min before my food came that the food was done but they were waiting on a driver. So, guess what… my food came like warm with some things plain cold. A little sad. I can easily recommend if you do takeout, just don’t do delivery or your food is cold

I ordered a hotel online that was literally across the street. When I didn’t receive my food in 45 minutes, I called the store. I was told the driver left 20 mins ago, but has many deliveries. I explained that I was across the street and that I do not want cold food. I was yelled at in broken English, and my order was canceled

I have had take-out orders many times for many years and am always very happy with the quality of the cooking. Once, I had the best roast pork egg foo young that I’ve ever had in my life from this establishment. I highly recommend China Star II imn Middletown, RI.

One of the several Chinese food outlets in Newport and I have tried my best to sample from an many outlets and possible in my short stay. As typical of most Chinese food outlets, the interior decor is simple and the place can accommodate between 15-30 guests on a good day. The staff was friendly and the guy at the counter seemed to know all the food on the menu by heart. I understand the place has been around for a while. The food was good (I ordered takeaway to enable me savour the food better at home), freshly boiled rice and a side with chicken and shrimp.

The fried rice and meat are fine but the chow mein needs some real work, couldn’t eat it.

It wasn’t much better then the last time I ordered from here about 20 years ago.
Ordered the vegetable Lo Mein which, as usual for New England takeouts, has mostly large bulky pieces of broccoli with a few snow peas and bits of baby corn. Noodles itself seemed like they over did it with the soy sauce to cover the fact that they used cheap starchy Lo Mein noodles. Good Lo Mein that are whole grain are a yellow brownish color and are not saturated in gravy.
Come to the conclusion that there is really no such thing as a good Chinese takeout in New England, and the buffets source their produce from from factory farms that hydroponically grow vegetables and have no taste and little or no nutritional value. In other words, they serve air plants.
