I stopped in while waiting on wife and sisters who went to the State Fair concert.
I had Mei Fun with Shrimp. This dish was alot of food for 1045, and the Egg Rolls were well prepared not frozen.

I got the sesame chicken and it was pretty tasty. Not the best I’ve ever had but pretty good for central IL. My mom gives the roast pork lo mein 5/5.

I ordered the Sweet and Sour Shrimp, and only received half of the meal I ordered, and expected. It was missing the vegetables that customarily come with the dish, because it only had fried shrimp, rice, and red sauce. I won’t be going back. Do I have to call restaurants beforehand to ask if all of what I expect will actually be what’s coming.

I ordered fried scallops and shrimp fried rice. The rice was pathetic yellow rice with a few shrimp sitting on top. And my “scallops” were CRAB MEAT!! I’m sure it’s IMITATION meat too! I eat enough seafood to see and taste the difference. And the “scallops” had more crab than the Crab Rangoon. Horrible experience. Definitely will not be ordering again!! Such a rip off

I ordered the szechuan beef x spicy and it was bland like a wet tube sock. No spice no flavor. I had to spice it up myself with hot chili oil.

I have been going to China Star for over 20 years now, which is an absolutely wild realization. General Tso’s lovers, I dare you to find any Chinese place in Springfield or beyond that serves better General Tso’s. I’ll wait. I don’t think you will find any better.
