The soup and dumplings were on point! Highly reccoment the coup with vegggies and Lomein noodles. I asked for additional spice, which made it even better. I also love their dumplings! They have a fresh dough wrap, I could tell they weren’t frozen.

They don’t like to change the oil. Anything you get is fried in dirty oil. Ive been going to China Star for 30 years and when it was the previous owners I never tasted dirty grease!!! The fries, egg rolls etc. Horrible. CHANGE THE OIL!!!! The chicken fingers have so much batter on them they look like chicken legs. MISS THE PREVIOUS OWNERS.

THE SERVICE:
The employee answering the phone provided good customer service. Making substitutions was seamless; my order was confirmed with the total and estimated pick up time.

The pickup experience was standard. Friendly employee greeting customers once they arrived at the counter. Orders were tracked using the last 4 digits and or name. My order was ready at the designated time.

THE ATMOSPHERE:

Although I didn’t observe any signs indicating the restaurant was under construction, I felt as though I was entering an abandoned work zone. There’s an entire wall of plywood, and many tables are turned over discouraging dine in service.

The floors, non-plywood walls, and especially the ceiling vents are in dire need of a deep cleaning. One could easily mistake themselves as entering an underground NYC subway station.

The pickup counter has a protective plexiglass barrier supported by exposed pieces of lumber. The kitchen is visible. Food preparation stations were relatively tidy.

I strongly encourage investing time into creating an inviting and clean waiting area. In addition to appropriate signage to address the condition of the establishment.

THE FOOD:

The shrimp fried rice was flavorful and tasted very good. I particularly enjoyed the contrasting textures with the onions and bean sprouts. The crab ragoon was cooked perfectly with a very satisfying creamy filling. Both items were the standout bites- above average inviting further exploration of the menu.

The boneless spareribs were meaty but fell short on flavor, and were a tough chew. The chicken fingers had a nice light coating, but the meat was overcooked and dry.

THE VALUE:

Prices and quantity align with their counterparts. However, most Chinese restaurants add a complimentary homemade duck sauce; this restaurant charges an additional fee.

Highly recommended. Good price. Friendly service from staff. Good food. Bought today. Mapo tofu and sweet and sour chicken are both very good. Reviews are not trustworthy. Come and try it yourself to know how good it is. Worth a try

The absolute worst Chinese food I have ever had. It’s honestly an insult to Chinese food. I have had Chinese food in many different places, and this was by far the worst. A poor excuse for food.

We ordered Szechuan Chicken, Vegetable Chow Mein, and Sautéed Broccoli. The chow mein was horrible. The noodles were so dry and stale. They had a horrible smell and the “stir fry sauce” was disgusting black liquid with no flavor, just salt. The szechuan chicken is also not szechuan chicken, what they served us was sautéed peppers and onions in garlic like sauce tossed with some chicken. The broccoli was dry and flavorless.

Do not waste your money here. If you’re hungry, go somewhere else or stay hungry because their food is horrible.

Don’t waste waste your money by ordering from here food is absolutely terrible. Ordered it a specific way said it several times how I want. The food still did not get it the way I wanted came all the way from Somerset to pick it up. Came back home and the food is absolutely garbage called up poor customer service did not ask to remake the food or to give me a refund. Down to even a simple thing is rice, being overcooked, and mushy wasted $65 terrible night so mad that I just drew this money down the drain and I’m still hungry and not able to eat anything out of this order cause it is pure garbage

I came in after working, covered in paint, they let me use their bathroom and even gave me a wash cloth. I ordered the honey chicken and it was delicious, great deal too!

This was the place a couple of years ago, the new management/owners have totally destroyed it. The food has no taste with them stealing from people by cutting portions. The egg rolls were the best now they try and deceive people by not filling them and just giving you an empty shell of bad quality oil. Parents must be proud, awful!

The food is excellent. We ordered the teriyaki steak and chicken skewers, chicken lo main, pork fried rice and crab raggon. Everything was absolutely delicious. The crab ragoon was smooth, creamy and with a slight sweet taste. Excellent all around and I will definitely be back.
