I used to eat at this location when it was Shanghai. This is not that. The egg flower soup was literally eggs cracked into some water. Nothing more. They thought they could buy the loyalty of the location. But once we know your not our little mountain Chinese restaurant we all loved. Your business model will fail. No flavor, no technique, and overall very disappointing. Over priced wish version of panda express.

I ordered “to go” for our first time from China House and we were very pleased! Sweet ‘n Sour Pork was tender, meaty and delicious. Chicken with Garlic Sauce also full of flavor with a nice kick. Their Pork Fried Rice was super yummy and generous portions. Everything was ready for pick up when they said and it was still hot when we got home. I think China House does a great job and we are glad to have a good restaurant in Cameron Park!

Like many others, we were intrigued to try the “new” Shanghai. We arrived shortly after opening and we’re greeted with a lack of professionalism. I immediately felt like we were a bother to the server.
We ordered a water, a can of Diet Coke, a sesame chicken lunch special and a broccoli chicken lunch special(when I asked if I could upcharge to do 50:50 rice and chow mein, the server raised her voice at me and said “we don’t do that here”).
We remained courteous because everyone has off days and it wasn’t the end of the world.
Five minutes later she brought our drinks and my husbands egg flour soup. The soup was inedible, my husband pushed it to the side. He opened his soda and poured it into his glass.
35 minutes go by, another customer who came in after us had already ate, paid and left. Another couple who came in after us had their meals in hand. 5 more minutes went by and the server presented me with my meal. I tried hard but could but get passed the fact that my food had looked like something my dog spit out. I chalked it up to ordering the wrong thing and pushed it aside.
My husbands food still hasn’t arrived. 48 minutes after arriving we had still not received his order. I called the server over and explained that my plate looked inedible, my husband hadn’t received his food and we were running behind and needed to leave. She looked me straight in the eye, said nothing and walked away.
We got up to leave, packed up my daughters things and headed out. While loading into the car, the server chased after us threatening to call the police and writing down our plates.
We explained to her the food we did receive was inedible/untouched and the rest never came out. She insisted we stole a soda because we opened the can even though it was never drank from.
After an unfortunate screaming match, my husband caved and agreed to pay for the single can of soda. The server ran our card for 5.90$ for a can of soda.
I went back and fourth about writing this review because I do believe in giving people a chance and some days are better than others. However, today when I checked our mobile app I noticed that the charge went from 5.90 to 6.90$…. She added in an unauthorized tip.
I’m shocked that this company would treat someone like this over something so petty.

We really missed the Chinese restaurant that had been there for the last 20+ years but wanted to give the new one a fair shot. Honestly the food was very similar to Shanghai’s but we all thought it was better. And I hate saying that because we loved Shanghai! Portions were very large, the chicken was super tender. I normally think sweet and sour pork is really tough, but theirs was very tender and probably the best I’ve had. So we will definitely be going back.

We enjoyed our lunch specials. Freshly prepared, hot and tasty! As good as Shanghai, I agree. Sesame chicken, shrimp in garlic sauce all really good. Friendly people and nice music.

I was sad about Shanghai restaurant closing but this still ended up being good, and probably better. Very similar to the old place while seeming a bit improved. Food portions were very big. Only problem was it took a decent amount of time to get the check.
