My sister recommended this hidden gem! The food was excellent and unique. The Plum Tree Beef was delicious. The service was outstanding and friendly. What SURPRISED me most was the beautiful decor! Chinese furniture, lanterns, art and even TABLECLOTHS made me feel like going OUT to lunch was truly a SPECIAL OCCASION again!!!

A real hidden gem of authentic Chinese dishes with impeccable service. We stopped by for lunch on our way to San Diego. Even before we entered, several patrons at the door told us we came to right place for great food. We tried several of the dishes recommended by proprietor/manager and we weren’t disappointed. The steamed buns and all dishes were very tasty, but the fish slices stood out as our favorite. Very tender and full of flavors. Also, the beef medallions were as good as some of the top Chinese places in LA. It was a very pleasant find in Encinitas, where I didn’t expect to find such an authentic place. The seating area was nicely decorated and there’s even a large room ready for private parties.

I got honey walnut shrimp, pan fried dumplings, and sizzling chicken a la mandarin. I’m always in this mall area, and have been waiting to try this place out once it opened. Their service was great! The staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was very hot and flavors were just right. My roommates and I ate these dishes for dinner, this has become our favorite Chinese restaurant.

Went here with 2 of my friends and was seated immediately, service was good, they were very attentive. The food itself was pretty disappointing, ordered the garlic chicken and had a good amount of fatty pieces as well as overly salted, ordered the slat and pepper chicken wings and it did have a shrimpy taste to it, not sure if they have separate fryers for seafood and others. Also had the cream cheese wontons and the center part was nice and creamy but the edge of the wrappers seemed like it was kind of old/stale tasting I’m not sure if the wrappers have been sitting out before being prepped and cooked. I would not recommend coming here since I feel like there are better places to go in the area

OMG, amazing service. Lots of staff, very attentive…they think about when to serve the food and the senior gent working the room (I presume he is the owner) is an absolute charmer.
I had the dumplings and seafood crispy noodles. The food was very good too, struck me as Cantonese style.
Reasonably busy on a random Tuesday night, always a good sign. Lots of regulars too so they must be doing something right. I was visiting alone on a work trip.

Stopped by Bevmo after work and decided to order out from this new Chinese restaurant next door. The host in the front was very sweet and gave me a rewards card to earn a free entrée after a certain amount of points. Interior decor looked nice. Very clean and traditional.

As for the food unfortunately it was a huge miss for me….

A bit pricey for the portions on the meat entrees. Also I did not realize it was $6 to add on only ONE piece of fried shrimp, an egg roll and a small cup of soup…robbery.

Egg Drop Soup: Bland and oily
Egg Roll: Avg
Fried Shrimp: Probably the most unique thing I tried. I was of fan of the batter they used. It almost tasted like fried sweet corn bread. I could eat a plate of these.

Pork Chow Fun: No color. Lacked green onions. Bland with a strange rancid smell that I could not pin point.

Braised Eggplant: Usually my favorite dish. Flavor was there but it was drowned out by the oil unfortunately

Honey Walnut Shimp: Batter texture was great but where was the sauce?!?! Missing all the flavor…

Tangerine Beef Lv 2: Probably the most disappointing dish. Zero tangerine whatsoever. I could only taste soy sauce with a little sugar. No spice at Lv 2 out of 5. Texture was very dry like beef jerky.

I’d come back for that fried shrimp but otherwise it was 4 strikes out on the entrées for me ‍

Chin, the owner greeted me and gave me personal advice on what items I should try. He found out that I liked veggies and he brought me a side of veggies for free. The Kungpao chicken (spice level 3) was phenomenal! I loved that they served the egg roll with a sweet and spicy sauce, and brought me extra hot mustard for dipping too! I will definitely come back soon!

While staff was friendly and service was quick
Food quality was really low !
I would expect restaurant level food quality but it feels like a tourist scam
I couldn’t finish the crispy duck since the plum sauce or duck smelled like garbage bag
soup was full of starch and seemed like they make all the soups from one starch base just add some canned mushrooms or some retired shrimps
I ended up in my room with diarrhea
The first and the last visit!
I guess they don’t care
locals wouldn’t go there anyway
just bring more tourists!

Ordered the Pu Pu Platter, and it was an absolute disappointment. It was incredibly unappetizing (both in appearance and taste) with a sad assortment of overcooked items. The paper-wrapped chicken tasted sour, and I was worried about it not sitting well, so I didn’t eat it. The chicken skewer was dry and looked beat up. Fortune cookies were the only thing I enjoyed.

Will not be ordering from here again.

First time ever coming here, and to be honest…I almost went somewhere else because of the reviews. I am SO happy I didn’t. First of all, the hostess/server was incredibly warm and accommodating. The decor of the place is beautiful, and the music is so calming. Definitely a place to escape the world for a meal on your own, but also a nice place to meet a friend on a shopping day 😉 The bathroom was impeccably clean, which I feel is always an indication of how clean a kitchen is. Food came fast – was piping hot, and even before then, she brought me a complimentary soup. Both the soup and my jasmine tea were delicious. For my main course, I ordered beef chow mein. Let me tell you – they did not skimp on the beef. Towards the end of my visit, a gentleman came out from the kitchen to check on me as well. Overall super happy with my experience, and I will absolutely be back soon! Thanks so much!
