Portion is huge. If I had known how big it was we would have ordered one meal. I think if they changed to half portion with the price it would be perfect. Overall the waiter was nice and the food came out fast. The food was good as well.

The only redeeming part of this experience was a kind waitress and host. The meals came out in about 3 minutes, and the vegetables on both meals were raw (giant pile of celery) or from a can (warm but not sautéed). The chicken in both seemed “off” — funny taste/appearance, and both dishes were flavorless. Mine was in a strange white gooey sauce. We only ate a couple bites before politely requesting to speak to a manager. The manager came to our table and did not listen to our calmly stated concerns; she immediately began pointing and raising her voice to tell us that they only use fresh vegetables, no canned (obviously this was not true). She the proceeded to loudly insist that we should not have ordered the two meals, that we should have only ordered one if it is too much for us. She refused to so much as discount the meals. We did not eat or take our meals, paid for our ticket, and left with me in tears. Especially with my husband sick to his stomach within a few minutes and only a couple bites of chicken, I am thankful we ate no more. It was the single worst restaurant experience I have ever had, which is sad because the other staff was so kind. Unfortunately I will not be returning or recommending this restaurant to anyone.

UPDATE: My husband got food poisoning — still sick three days later. It was definitely the chicken that made him ill. We should have just walked out but felt morally uncomfortable about that option. At this point I highly regret paying for such a pricey, atrocious meal.

The food was average. We ordered the family meal. It didn’t feel seasoned all that well. It was about $15.50 per person for it, not bad but higher than other places we’ve been to, but it was a lot of food. Due to the pandemic, they took our order and delivered it to our car while we waited. Unfortunately, they didn’t give us chopsticks but that seems to be the norm so we used the forks we keep in the car.

We absolutely love this place especially during buffet hours. We always get great service and the lady that serves is so nice to us and always remembers us and knows what table is our favorite. The food is always top notch and were never disappointed. I highly recommend you eat there during the buffet hours. So yummy! We moved to kalispell and yet we still will travel down there at times just to eat there. Its this good and that great of service.

The food was delicious and the waitress was very friendly. Portions were large for the price and the atmosphere was fantastic! We had an infant and toddler with us and even when they were having fits, the staff remained courteous and kind. We would definitely go back!

My wife and I stopped here on our way to Glacier National Park. The waitress was friendly and the food was about average. My wife originally ordered the buffet but after a few bites, did not care for it and asked the waitress if it would be ok to cancel her buffet order and instead order a lunch off of the menu. The waitress said this would be fine. When our bill arrived, the waitress told us that because the buffet comes with rice and some of it was eaten, and then the order switched to a menu lunch item, that we would be charged $3.50. I didn’t really understand because the menu item came with rice, so weren’t we just trading the bowl of rice from the buffet with the bowl of rice from the menu lunch? I wish the waitress had told us we would be charged extra up front because we were under the impression that there would be no additional charge to switch from the buffet to the lunch ordered from the menu. I actually don’t think the waitress thought there would be a charge but the manager was making her charge us for it. We weren’t going to say anything about it since it was just $3.50 but I felt the charge wasn’t right so I finally asked to speak to the manager for more information. The conversation did not go well. The manager was argumentative and kept pointing her finger at us. She blamed us for changing the order, saying that you can’t just come in and try something and then change your mind. She told my wife, who is a sweet and very well liked elementary school teacher, that she was the worst customer she has had in 20 years. I was really unhappy with the way the manager was handling our concerns. To her credit though, the manager did eventually decide not to charge the $3.50, so I increased my rating from 1 star to 2 stars.

Love Chinese food! Was surely let down when I experienced China Gate. Their buffet options are SERVERLY limited. Regardless I didn’t let that bug me. What DID bug me however was the nasty film that was shown on some of the food options, such as the soups/sauces. The food looked old and dried out from sitting out what looked to be for a couple hours. I’ve worked at a China buffet before and have never seen food look THAT old unless we closed and took awhile to pull food from the buffet for some reason. For some reason I still decided to try the questionable food (What does that say about me?) Everything tasted weird. The items balancing on the ledge not under the heat lamps were cold and probably long forgotten. The food was honestly gross. I hate to bash establishments and I do not believe I’ve ever left a review on anything. Couldn’t let this one go though. I WILL say that our waitress was kind and did allow us to remove my buffet fee after asking and confirming my plate was untouched.

The food was terrible, bland, and awful. Vegetables were hardly cooked and obviously looked like they were not fresh. I asked to speak to the owner to see if we could just not eat our food and possibly have it discounted and she was extremely rude to myself and my wife and started ranting about how we shouldn’t have ordered what we did and everything was fresh. I didn’t want to argue so I paid and left. Would never recommend this place. I will say the service staff was very nice however.

Food was consistent with what we have had in the past and just what we wanted. Wait staff was friendly and brought us our water but didn’t bother us over and over. If you want something like chopsticks you should ask the first time because you probably won’t see them again until you get the check.
