Perhaps the best roast duck with ginger and spins onions I have ever had. Meat was lean and not too fatty, ginger was fiery and sauce was on point!! Had with salt and pepper chips which were divine!! Understandable why they won best takeaway regionally and nationally 2025!!

I was excited to try China Diner having read that they recently won an award. Unfortunately the food was a huge disappointment and lacked any flavour. I binned three quarters of my meal. Sadly I feel I wasted my money. I have chosen not to ring and complain as I don’t want a replacement meal 🙁

My family have used this Chinese for over 30 years, it was the highlight of my holidays when I was a kid and visited the area to see my Grandma…. Now I live here in a weekly orderer and I have never had a bad meal. Everything is always hot and fresh and on a par/better than some top restaurants for a lot less money! Great value for what you get – lovely staff and the Salt and Chilli pepper king prawns would be my death row meal request!

I must say I have often had my Saturday night treat from china dina in Gilesgate. I was absolutely devastated, as after 1 hour and half off ringing the delivery in I had walk along and get it. And when I did finally eat it IT WAS THE WORST I HAVE TASTED. WASTE OF £ 35 . NOT BE GOING BACK AGAIN
