We stumbled upon this new Gem after our previous lunch plans we picked up to go. We had the Shrimp Lo Mein. Everything was delicious. Very clean and cozy ambience. We definitely recommend you come try the food. 10/10

Decided to give this neat looking place a try. Pretty small space but used pretty well. Prices are fair and the portions are better. You seat yourself where ever is open and they brought me my soup within 2&1/2 minutes of sitting. The wonton soups broth is very light and the actual wonton doesn’t have a lot of filling but still pretty good overall. I saw that the spoon they gave me for the soup had a bit of left over food so I just switched spoons. The lady who took my order warned me that even their small fried rice is pretty big portions able to be split with 3-4 people but I ordered it with the intentions of leftovers (cause leftover takeout sometimes taste better). Now the egg rolls took a bit of time to arrive but I wasn’t bothered by it as I har a mountain of rice to keep me company. The size of the egg rolls was on the smaller side but the meat to veggie filling ratio was on point. The Lady who took my order gave me a water with lemon without me asking which was very nice as I was regretting not asking for one. The rice also was very light in flavor then some restaurants but I actually like that cause it just has a very satisfying humble taste to it. Plus the pork in the rice made up for it as it had good flavor. This is definitely a place you go with friends to share lunch and time with at an affordable spot. Overall a pretty good spot for takeout, would go again, just make sure your spoon is good & maybe don’t use the communal sweet & sour as it looks a bit clumpy.

I order a happy meal for $13.99. And to be honest it was a complete rip off! I got a small bowl full that looks nasty. A combination a beef pork shrimp . The taste is just terrible ! Not to even mention they charged an extra dollar for fried rice! When I said fried rice I expected rice with vegetables. I got the most old and stale rice plain and simple. No taste, no eggs, no veggies. As I grabbed my order I thought the iced tea was complimentary because the price was completely outrageous. My total was $16.39 for everything. The employee immediately stopped and said you can’t touch that. Did you order iced tea ? When it was just water brewed with tea flavor. You had to add the lemons and sugar on your own. And I only got one sad sorry sac of soy sauce !!! The atmosphere was terrible. Only one person was in the dining room. The smell inside this place was very odd. Never coming coming back here again! Your best best is driving down to Eldridge and westheimer to Panda Express where you can get better quality and service.

I was running some errands with my daughter today and found the China Cottage Restaurant. I was buying other food around the area but the pictures on the window were calling for me! The location is easy to find and there was plenty of parking in the front. I ordered some of my favorite dishes to see if this is a restaurant I want to visit again. I ordered Cheese Puffs (5 per order) and Soft Shrimp Rolls (2 per order). The restaurant was very clean and my daughter was attracted to the cute Chinese Waving Hand and a cute little fish tank. I waited patiently for my order and well the wait got a little longer than expected. Luckily, my daughter was entertained but I sat there for a little while for only two small orders. I give this location a 4 due to the wait time. I saw others that came by and picked up their orders and maybe if I order in advance my experience would have been different. I do have to say that the staff was very friendly and a nice waitress gave my daughter a fortune cookie while we waited. As for the food, the Cheese Puffs were very tasty and fresh I like to think that wait had something to do with it! As for the spring rolls well they were ok but not my favorite. The peanut sauce was a bit too sweet and the spring roll fell apart a bit. I love spring rolls and I am just being a hard critic. Despite that, I do recommend this restaurant as the cheese puffs were great and maybe other dishes are as delicious!

I just stopped here for lunch and got it to go. I was indecisive on what I had wanted to eat and the lady helped me decide and patiently waited and told me to take my time. She was super helpful and sweet! She told me about different spices to help me choose. I ended up getting the general tso chicken and rice they didn’t have sweet tea so I got a Sunkist in a can. The food was ready by the time I went to the restroom and washed my hands and it was extremely hot! I mixed the white rice with my chicken and my fork was half melted! It tasted amazing and I’m so thankful she helped me make the right choice! I’d recommend this place for sure!! My total was 15 but then I tipped her for being super helpful too!

I’ve been a patron of this restaurant since 2019. Was so impressed the first time I went by the freshness of the food and value. I’ve probably eaten there or ordered online over 50x. But the past few orders have been “off”. One or multiple dishes wouldn’t taste quite right. My most recent order was especially bad. Not one dish was good. As a kind gesture I called to voice my concerns and asked if maybe they had changed something or someone else was preparing the food… especially lately. The manager seemed to take offense almost as if I was lying but thanked me for telling her before she tried to abruptly get off the phone. I stopped her and questioned if she was willing to do anything such as a credit or refund. She then insisted that her food was fresh and didn’t offer anything. At which point I told her she just lost a long time customer. I will not be going back. EVER!

One the best Chinese spots I’ve ever been to. The food was delicious, fresh, and amazing. I ordered to go, it was ready quick and no mistakes.
Everything I ordered was so good, the orange chicken, Lo mien, beef and broccoli, and the staff was friendly. Highly recommend, this is a treasure and great example of Chinese takeout!

As a diverse & inclusive US citizen. I definitely appreciate the China cottage. I like the Asian pacific islander oriental cuisine. I have always had a genuine & authentic ✨️ likelyneas for our native Chinese Americans. Fell in love with one when I was in college. Beautiful human being. To our restaurant owners thank you. Thank you for what you do for our Chinese food lovers.
