China Chef is a casual Chinese restaurant in Baltimore’s Canton area that’s great if you’re in the mood for classic Chinese-American comfort food with generous portions and easy ordering for takeout or delivery. The menu has all the familiar favorites you’d expect — orange chicken, General Tso’s chicken, fried rice, lo mein, chow mein, egg foo young, and combination plates — so it’s a go-to spot for familiar flavors that hit the spot when you want something satisfying and affordable.
The vibe here is relaxed and unpretentious — it feels like a neighborhood take-out favorite rather than a fancy sit-down spot. Reviews online are mixed: some folks on delivery apps rave about the tasty, well-seasoned dishes and convenience, while others suggest that the experience can vary from visit to visit.
Personal take: I’d describe it as reliable, comforting Chinese takeout — great for lunch or dinner when you want classic Chinese favorites without anything too complicated. The portions are generous, the flavors familiar, and it’s a nice casual pick if you’re craving orange chicken, lo mein, or a combo plate in Baltimore.

The best CHINESE FOOD IN BALTIMORE CITY. I travel from the county just to get it. The owners always have great hospitality and respect for their customers. The chicken wings are very good too. Always happy eating here. You can see the entire kitchen, it’s clean

Head and shoulders above other restaurants. Food tastes fantastic and they’ll even make special orders, if possible. Great prices and large portions. Carry out only.

I have been coming to this establishment for 30 years or so and the food has always been consistently the same delicious food as always!!
Even though I moved out the area, I will take this 30 min drive for this deliciousness!!

Staff is very nice and friendly. Loved the food. Super fresh. Loved their shrimp rolls. Shrimp Lo mein is good. Orange chicken was slightly chewy but mostly good.

The good: Sauce was good. Food tasted good.
The bad: The “large” portion size was smaller than I have gotten at other places. I ordered the beef and broccoli. Also, in my opinion, there was less beef and more broccoli compared to other places. I ordered through door dash. My food arrived with no fork, no napkins, no sauce, and no egg roll. I called the restaurant about this, and they said that they don’t do delivery, and that was the reason for the confusion and quality of service. They blamed it on door dash.

Great food. Excellent prices. Nice ppl, very nice. But they are not enforcing face masks or social distancing. I waited for about 20 min for three young men wearing their masks around their necks, and starting to horseplay. Then a family with 4 children walked in, none wearing masks. I will miss this place. It’s not worth risking infection for dinner

Food is good but give me bad service and I’m done. Ordered chicken wings and a shrimp egg roll. I noticed he didn’t drop my chicken, he sat down and got on his cell phone watching a game or something. Apparently a woman ordered wings that were already sitting there and just in case she didn’t come back, he was gonna give me her wings. As soon as she walks in about 8 mins later, he throws her wings back in the grease to heat them up and then throws the fresh ones in the grease, and gives me the reheated ones and tells the lady she has to wait for the wings he just started cooking. (My wings) needless to say my egg roll was cold. Thank you China Chef, you’ve saved me a lot of money.
