My husband and I came for the first time and immediately fell in love with this place. Has that old timey classic diner feel. The music fits the vibe. The staff was quick, attentive and super friendly. The food was amazing!! I had the chicken fried steak and eggs and my husband got the biscuits and gravy. We come up to this area because we got married in Port Hadlock and it’s dear to our hearts. 100% will be back!!

Only one visit, and that on a Sunday morning for Breakfast. The parking lot showed the place to be fairly full, about half having plates as we sat at the counter. No one working here seems under 40, and they move with the grace of a ballet. Old school mugs, plates, flatware… To me, this means they planned well, and I am not spending much money on “ambiance.” Looks like they got good ingredients, too. The coffee is nice, no dry thing to showcase the food, nor bold or charred enough to be its’ own statement.
The kitchen staff kept turning out plates at an impressive pace.
Glad I saw pancakes go out. No reason a human needs 3 of these (OK, maybea teenager), not quite light, very fluffy and toothsome platters. Also glad the server asked my wife if she wanted 2 or 3 slices of French Toast.
A 4 pack of old growlers, 2 beards, all grey hairs in hats, chatting freely left before we did. Smaller families populated the 4 tops. Prices might be a bit high locally, but for our routine urban digs, this was cheap.
I have to mention the pie case. It can probably hold 70 pies or more. No doubt also a throwback, as I can’t see that much going out in a week. But they all looked good, and I wish I had room for a slice, or a pie.
Clean, not worn. Retro, not dated.
I wish there was one of these where I didn’t need a ferry ride to get there.

PIE! PIE! PIE! Every time I’m up in Port Townsend I take time to stop by the Cafe on my way home to buy a pie to go. I’ve had lunch and dinner here as well, always with a piece of pie and ice-cream. Yummy!

The concrete floors and what little carpet that are there are filthy. They have cut their hours and menu. The quality of the food has deteriorated in the last year. I had hot meatloaf sandwich and it turned out to be two thin grilled slices of meatloaf. I’ve never had meatloaf grilled such as I received. The waitresses were efficient and friendly. They are known for their pies but I did not have any. There are not that many restaurants in the area and I’m sorry that this one is off our list.

If you thought small town warmth and hospitality no longer exist, you need to stop by Chimacum Cafe! The place was bustling when we arrived. But, we were immediately greeted by cheery staff and our waitress, Roxanne, could not have been friendlier or nicer! The restaurant had such a positive buzz to it, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. My husband ordered the Paul Bunyan special, a hamburger about 3x the size of a normal burger that he thoroughly enjoyed and took half home because he couldn’t finish it! I ordered a garden burger that was so tasty! I had the Tollhouse pie for dessert, topped with ice cream thanks to input from Roxanne about this incredible taste combination. Wow! It was SO good – like a warm chocolate chip cookie with the chocolate on the verge of melting surrounded by a scrumptious crust and vanilla ice cream. It makes me happy just to relive that first bite…and all the rest! My husband loved his Marionberry pie. I’m so glad we decided to give this fantastic place a try. We will be back!

With it being pie day tomorrow I wanted to stop in and grab a few pies to take home. Unfortunately they were sold out of any cherry, and only had a few individual slices of chocolate cream available. The waitress was kind, and quick. Even checking the back fridges for any extras. I ended up getting a whole tollhouse pie. It’s delicious. It does have pecans in it- different from other cookie like pies. Whole pies are $35, but you can return the pie pan for a small refund. Their pies never disappoint!

Well-known for their fabulous pies. A homey place, popular with locals. Fast and friendly service, with very generous servings. On the other hand, the roast beef tasted (and smelled) very old — barely edible — and the meatloaf had the texture of wet cardboard. Maybe a burger would be better.

We’ve been going to this establishment for over 10 years. Under the previous ownership the service was great and the food was always well proportioned and priced right. It is my opinion that under the new ownership the establishment has started to go down hill. I took two friends there today for lunch. There was only one waitress on staff and the place was busy. We waited nearly 15 minutes for menus. Then another 10 before we had our orders taken. The table was still dirty from the previous customers and had no utensils or napkins provided ( we had to ask for these after the food was eventually served, about 30 minutes later). My friends ordered the sirloin burgers and they were happy with their meals. I must say that the sirloin burger has always been one of their better items on the menu. I had the hot turkey sandwich. It was terrible. 2 slices of stale bread with one small slice of turkey on top. Under the previous ownership this items was piled high with thick slices of turkey. The meal also came with a dinner salad. Some lettuce with clearly store bought dried out shredded carrots. Another item that used to be great. Always came with fresh lettuce, shredded cabbage and carrots, cucumbers, green peppers and some croutons.
This is the third time in the last 6 months that I’ve tried to give another chance to this establishment. I know the new owner Simon is doing his best, but I believe this establishment is but a mere shadow of what is once was. I wish them luck and hope they can turn it around, but I will not be returning.
