My favorites were the beef chow fun, the pickled cabbage fish soup, and some hot jasmine green tea! The chow fun reminded me of a less sweet pad see ew and the sour fish soup reminded me of sinigang!
We also ordered the sweet/sour short ribs, ganghood fried chicken, and stir fried four seasons veggies. The short ribs and fried chicken portions were a lot smaller than expected, and didn’t taste really freshly cooked.
I used Toast to place my order and simply went in to pick it up and it was ready on time for my arrival. I re-heated what I got in the microwave oven and that didn’t take long and it tasted great. I got their cumin beef and their long pepper chicken. Both had the correct, and diverse flavors I enjoy from “non-American-style” Chinese joints. The heat level was also perfect; nice & spicy!!
The textures of the proteins were spot on. The amount of seasonings and everything were great too. Definitely would return!
The food here is incredibly tasty, and always satisfies.
The combination low mein has a smokey flavor from the wok which I absolutely can’t get enough of.
The Orange Chicken dish, wasn’t my favorite, but my 7 year old loved it, so it was a win!
Not a very large restaurant, but the food has BIG flavor.
It’s perfect for a relaxed night out or a quick bite with friends. The seating area is relatively limited. Many people were doing takeouts here.
We ordered family style, selecting five different dishes along with small bowls of rice for each person. The pricing was good for the value; it cost us $25 per person, though individual items are available for under $20.
Our meal included Szechuan green beans, mapo tofu, baby bok choy with tofu, chili oil with beef, and double cooked pork. My favorite was the double cooked pork, which I enjoyed even more when soaked in the chili oil dish, a technique that also enhanced the green beans. While the food wasn’t the spiciest I’ve ever had, the flavors were outstanding.
Despite the place being very busy in the afternoon, it remained clean and organized. I will definitely be visiting again to try other items on the menu and perhaps sample the individual meals. Since I didn’t get takeout, I can’t comment on that aspect.
One minor drawback is that all the drinks are bottled, which wasn’t ideal for me, but there’s a water machine available for those who prefer unlimited water.
Overall, this was a great experience and is worth trying if you’re in the area and craving Szechuan cuisine. I highly recommend Chili Wok for its authentic flavors and excellent service.
