The Chili Man is still cranking out top dogs. Stopped by Uptown late morning today and, admittedly, it’s weird not seeing 100 people lined up down Tryon. Post-pandemic life has crippled Uptown and the businesses that rely on foot traffic and the masses. Now that companies are bringing employees back into the office hopefully all businesses in Uptown will flourish.
Picked up a Chili Man’s Choice and Southern All the Way. They’re still great quality dogs. Pick some up when you can either in Uptown or the surrounding areas where the Chili Man pops up.
Josh is still working hard in Uptown a few days a week. You know parking is a Jake so grab a spot in the lot or on the street a few blocks away.

There’s a reason why this guy’s hot dog’s are continually awarded and being nationally recognized! They ARE the best! It also helps that Vic is a good-hearted guy with a witty sense of humor! No hot dog joint in the city of Charlotte or anywhere can compare to a Chiliman hot dog! He often gets imitated, but no one can ever duplicate the flavor experience that a Chiliman creation brings!

He is a man of few words yet his food speaks volumes. He gives you an affirming nod as you receive your order. Standing stoically, a slight smirk on his face as if he knows you’re about to experience one of the best damn dogs the city has to offer. He goes by many names. The dude with the dogs, The hot dog man, The sargent of mustard and kraut. But the locals know him as the Chilli Man. And although not the original, 2.0 definitely has cemented his status as a true Charlotte street staple. The Chilli Man’s choice, The Q-Dog and the Narco Dog are definitely the way to go when ordering. Although, if you really want the chilli man experience order The Life Changer, Vinegar Bomb or Frito Pie Dog.

I heard about this place being ranked as the #1 hot dog in America so I knew I had to check it out. I came after 1pm when the lunch crowd wasn’t that bad. I had a chili dog with mustard and sour kraut. It was pretty good and decent for the price. I think the title of “best hot dog” depends on personal preference, as I feel like Sabretts has a slight edge in terms of authentic NY style street dogs. However Vic’s menu is super creative so I would definitely recommend this place to those who prefer a variety of unique options. The owner is very friendly and you can tell that he takes pride in delivering good street food.

I have to say those were single-handedly the two best hot dogs I’ve ever put in my mouth. Got to spend a little bit of time why they weren’t busy actually talking to the proprietor and well not only as damn good at what he does food wise he also loves to give back so if you’re ever in uptown and he’s there Definitely hit it up not to mention he’s definitely a part-time comedian also

Best hot dogs ever! They we’re so good, I came back for a 3rd! My favorite was the NACO dog with the Carolina Reaper mustard and sliced jalapeños! I will definitely find him again and bring eneryone I know to have hot dogs!

Vic the Chiliman’s hot dogs are THE BEST in Charlotte! I was not impressed with other places like JJ’s. Nothing compares. Everything I’ve tried from Vic is delicious! His dogs always have pizazz!
