Pretty disappointing experience overall.
I’m from LA and used to great Mexican food, both from high-end spots and small hole-in-the-wall places, so I had higher expectations. I ordered the chimichanga, which is usually one of my favorite dishes, but this one was dry, thick, and lacked flavor. It tasted more like an oversized spring roll than a proper chimichanga.
The highlights were honestly the Coca-Cola and the tamarind candy. Service was friendly, so no issues there, but the food just didn’t hit the mark for me.
Unless I’m extremely hungry or coming off a rough night, I probably won’t be back.

I really like this place! I’ve not personally had a bad experience yet. Have only had the tacos and chili rellanos. The staff is friendly, I love the Mexican beer choices and my all time favorite the candy.

I ordered two tacos with chicken and got scrapes of chicken cilantro and onion. This place is a joke. From someone who has lived out west they would never survive on this. The chicken was super dry and very little spices. Gross. Grumpy gringo and other places near bye have better orptiins.

The saddest chimichanga ever. No salsa on the side, just a bunch of lettuce and a pile of cilantro. No refried beans, no rice, no extra queso. Was not given my change upon paying with cash, nor did i receive a receipt.

It’s hard to find authentic Mexican food in St Pete, especially at reasonable prices. Chili Verde always delivers on quality, price and service. I take my guys there whenever we are in the area and they all crave it afterwards. They don’t hype on weird, innovative toppings or flavors that take away from the simplicity of just a good, simple and generous portions like authentic Mexican food should be.

We ate there once last year and it was great! Came there this time and it was kind of a weird mix between traditional Spanish and Indian. We all felt… Blah after eating there as well.
Not sure how I feel about the cold mozzarella on top of a chimichanga.

Not recommended. Black mold and blant food.
I had enchiladas, food was exceptionally blant.
Regretted paying 13 bucks for blant mexican with black mold on the ceiling.
Folks are authentic, food not so much.
The rice had a weird after taste I could not pinpoint.

Better hours then everyone else an this place kills it. Being from out west I was after a true Mexican style taco an these are so good! The Verde is super tasty an the rojo has enough heat you don’t want to over do it!
This place is a vibe with the grab your own beer.

Food had bugs crawling around inside the food area. Glass over beans, etc was extremely dirty (like never been cleaned dirty), homeless lady in getting food for a quarter (waited on her over actual paying customers), meat was extra greasy (worse than taco bell). I ate there before and it was okay but it definitely went down hill. Absolutely disgusting! I feel like I got food poisoning for just walking in the building and smelled like beef and cheese when i got outside. I will never go back.

Recommended by a local, and it did not disappoint. Huge selection of drinks. It had a bunch of coolers filled with tons of drinks but with authentic sit-down Mexican food. Fair prices, great portions, and everything was fresh and flavorful. Very good experience overall, and we would definitely return.
