I’d been wanting to try La Chilanguita Mexican Restaurant, and it didn’t disappoint. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff are friendly and attentive. The food was tasty, the margaritas were great, and the chips and salsa were fresh and flavorful. The only downside was that the prices were a bit higher than I expected. Overall, a nice spot for good Mexican food and a relaxed vibe.

The service was wonderful. The ladies waiting on us were friendly and attentive. We never ran out of chips and salsa or refills. I had high hopes for the food. I was pretty disappointed when I took my first bite. It was lacking flavor. I ended up putting salt on top. I can’t remember the last time I’ve had to do that. I ordered the beef enchiladas. The refried beans were bland, salt couldn’t even save them. The cooks were stingy with the enchilada sauce and the beef was overcooked. My sister ordered the tacos Mexicanos. Again the meat was dry and even more overcooked. Overall, we were not impressed.

My family and I have been coming here for a while. We absolutely love their delicious food. Big menu with delicious flavors. Kids menu is available. Great music that we all love to dance to. Great customer service as well. Definitely our favorite spot in St. Louis.

Overall was pretty good, carnitas were tender and not dried out. Birria tacos were very flavorful and had different flavors of margaritas that are not common in St.Louis. Will be back.

Went here on a whim with my sisters on a Saturday evening. When we arrived we were escorted to a table by the window and the tables on either side of us were empty. The table light was not turned on and we were not given the option of water or told when the server would come to take our order. Eventually more people arrived and were seated in the previously mentioned booths. These people, who arrived and were seated after us, were attended to by a server before us and received water and their drink orders before we did. The wait time for a server was ridiculous and the bartender is who finally ended up taking our order… the food was fine, but the service seemed to be a self fulfilling prophecy of not getting tipped. Mistreating people because you assume they won’t tip based on stereotypes and then not receiving a tip because of the poor treatment lol. Brilliant. We also were not provided paper bills and had our payment taken at the table with a mobile card reader. Terrible experience.

This is hands-down one of the best Mexican restaurants in St. Louis – it deserves a perfect 5.0 rating. The food is consistently phenomenal: bursting with flavor, perfectly cooked, and honestly, I’d put it above El Catrin any day. The guacamole is to die for, and every dish I’ve tried has exceeded expectations.

The service is just as impressive. We often have the pleasure of being served by Dayan, who is incredibly warm, attentive, and service-oriented – she makes every visit feel special.

If you leave here unhappy, I can only assume one of two things: you’ve had COVID so many times you lost your taste buds, or you were just having a really bad day. Either way, don’t let that sway you – this place is a gem, and you won’t be disappointed.

Our party of 4 was sealed promptly and given chips and salsa. The chips were warm and crispy. Service was laid back, but allowed us to chat and not feel rushed. Everyone had something completely different, and each entree was good. My friend who ordered a vegetarian entree was pleased that it wasn’t “squash forward”, as these dishes are often full of squishy zucchini. My other friend and I both had dishes with shrimp in them. The shrimp were a good size and well cooked. My husband’s standard order of a steak chimichanga passed his test. The only underwhelming item was the flan. It was serviceable, but not exciting. We plan to go back to try the birria items.

I ordered the birria tacos and the Monster Pineapple on the Rocks margarita, and both were amazing. The tacos were crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor, and the consommé was rich and perfect for dipping. The margarita was refreshing, strong (in the best way), and not overly sweet—pineapple done right. Great food, great drinks, and great vibes. I’ll definitely be back.
