Chika omakase is a real treat and an incredibly entertaining omakase experience. The chefs are clearly passionate about the products they source and serve. It was wonderful to hear about their preparations of each dish and I greatly appreciated their ability to accommodate allergies throughout the multiple rounds of courses. The room is large enough to fit parties at tables behind the bar seating which made the setting seem even more like dinner and a show. There is sake, wine and beer service throughout the meal. Highly recommend for sushi lovers celebrating birthday or special date night.

This place is a vibe. Very unique and very fun. If you’re up for some awesome food, amazing service, and a “party”, you’re going to enjoy it.

I would say that the negative reviews revolve around it not being traditional omakase (the chef acknowledges this at the beginning of the experience – this is a “take” on omakase that is molded by San Antonio and his upbringing) as well as the music being too loud.

I will say that the music was loud, but in a very fun way. Not as loud as a concert or club, but louder than usual dinner. To me – it totally fit the experience they’re going for. This experience is heavily influenced by the music. The chef and his crew are bibbing heads and DJ’ing the set.

I haven’t been to anything like it, it was a ton of fun and a great date night. Would do it again and recommend it to others as long as you’re open to the experience being what it is.

Also, they change the menu every night, they’re always experimenting, so something to keep in mind if you go more than once.

Cheers!

A Chika show asks you to surrender to the present, not only to embrace the flow of an innovative omakase menu, but to enjoy each other.

I’ve been three times, and each visit has been unique. You’ll never have the same show twice. Built entirely off the cuff, in the moment, by two outstanding masterminds.

You start your night at Amelia, the bar upstairs, where you can order a drink and await your captain to escort you to the secret Chika entrance.

Intentional, sustainable ingredients. Sensational hospitality. Sultry, intimate ambiance. Contagiously friendly chefs, who act as conductors and comedians. Wine pairings curated to support the revolving menus and delivered with a respectful amount of information from the captain to support your tasting journey. Thorough sake selections. Priced perfectly for a 16–19 course experience. Overall, impeccable quality.

Deserves a Michelin star for sure.

Food was delicious and had a unique twist. Chefs put on a good show and are personable. If you have dietary restrictions and let them know on the front end, they do their best to accommodate. We had a great time. Perfect way to spend our anniversary!

Just went last night for the chef experience with wine pairing. showed up 10 minutes early but people were already 3 dishes in. They were put on the counter top (which you cant see over) in order of serving for me to catch up. No dishes were explained, no chefs even said hello. I was in the back corner of the restaurant.

Wine pairings all had pieces of paper in the glasses and were poured inconsistently with dishes (you dont know what dishes go with what wine) and the wines were not explained.

You cant see the 2 chefs make anything because the tiered counter top is so high. All you see is 2 guys looking down and walking back and forth.

At $240 I would expect to have dishes explained to me (none were), the wines paired up appropriately and explained (none were) and at the VERY least a greeting from the chefs. I wasnt even acknowledged the entire night and I was 1 of 10 people in there.

The food was good, yet I still left wondering what I had paid for.

That leaves a bitter aftertaste. 2 stars.

Recently moved to San Antonio and was looking for a good sushi spot. Was at the Pullman market and Got pointed toward Chika when I saw the chefs picking out fresh local ingredients for the omakase they were doing that night.

The two chefs conduct an amazing experience that is fueled by good food alongside music to create a unique atmosphere for an omakase. The seating is mostly counter seating with a few tables behind but you don’t feel crammed at all. It’s a little different than a traditional sushi bar omakase but in a GREAT WAY! They put their own spin on it and the food was not only fresh but delicious. Every piece was thought out and unique and made for a great meal. If you like sushi and experiences this is a can’t miss in San Antonio. I’ll definitely be going back and bringing more people.

Must GO! Especially if you are a San Antonio native. This is truly a culinary EXPERIENCE. Likely my new favorite restaurant. I’m thrilled to see chefs like this bringing their style to San Antonio plates. The chef is nephew to J Alexander and Rudy’s seafood owners – he knows his fish. The have fish from around the world with a fusion style sushi. The sushi he makes changes every day and has had over 500 different menus over the last one year. If you can, sit at the bar, not the tables.

I would say this is a 16 and up experience (no kids) and I’m not sure about ADA accessibility since the venue is down a flight of stairs. But, I think there is a side entrance for wheelchair access.

For those reviewers that have less than five stars, I don’t think they appreciate the dynamics of this experience and/or realize the significance of many of chef’s sushi pieces.

Celebrated one of my good friend’s birthdays here and it was absolutely perfect. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance set the tone — intimate, warm, and effortlessly chic. The music was on point (not too loud, just enough to elevate the vibe), and the energy in the room felt upscale yet relaxed.

The sushi? Fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Every dish tasted intentional and high quality — you can tell they care about what they’re serving. It was the kind of place where you want to take your time, enjoy good conversation, and just be present.

Perfect spot for a girls’ night, birthday dinner, or a date night. Great vibes, great food, great memories. We’ll definitely be back.

Chika Omakase delivered one of the best dining experiences I’ve had. This was far more than a meal. It was an experience from start to finish. The way they blend omakase with a modern, non traditional approach was impressive and refreshing. Every course felt intentional and expertly crafted.

The music was on point and added a whole other layer to the night. It created a vibe that was relaxed, fun, and elevated all at once. The ambiance was beautiful and intimate, making it the perfect setting for a date night.

What really stood out to me was how welcoming the experience felt. It didn’t feel transactional at all. It felt personal, like you were being invited into something special. The food was outstanding. Fresh, flavorful, and memorable with every bite.

My wife told me during dinner that this was the best date we’ve ever been on, and I completely agree. Chika Omakase is a place we’ll be talking about for a long time, and we’ll definitely be back.

I will likely be talking about this dinner until the day I die. We wanted to go out for a friend’s birthday, and we were met with such great service and cuisine. They already prepared menu made it easy to just show up and enjoy the show that was fine dining in San Antonio, something we don’t have a ton of here. If you’re the type of person with an open palate and a yearning for fresh ingredients, this is the right place for you. Is it pricy? Yes. But worth every penny.
