Was told the wait would be 20 minutes and ended up waiting over 40. Went up to the counter multiple times and no one came to ask what we needed. 1 guy running the entire restaurant with barely any seating and uncleared tables. Once we got our food it was in To-Go containers that were not asked for. Portions were terrible (see picture). Food was put in styrofoam so hot it burned through the bottom (see picture). Do not recommend.

Decided to try out the food since the new owners took over. We ended up being very disappointed. I have been eating here for over 30 years and have continued to eat here despite three different owners. Each time a little different but still delicious. Today we ordered veggie tacos with the works and chicken tacos with the works.First of all I paid almost two dollars more for the veggie tacos which didn’t make sense but the female owner said she couldn’t just load it up with veggies despite it being a veggie taco. Anyhow, when our order arrived at our table we were disappointed. The veggie tacos only had rice beans and canned jalapenos despite ordering all the veggies and works. The beans looked to be straight out of a can and the rice was mushy. The chicken tacos were missing the beans and some veggies despite ordering it with them and the works. The tortillas did not look authentic and were small and thin. Before even tasting the food I asked for a refund. The male owner comes out very defensive and tells me they are not Imelda’s and will not be the same. I informed him I was aware but the tacos were not made as ordered and the quality was terrible. Both owners were very upset and defensive but did refund me. Needless to say I will not return to this place. I did not feel the food looked tasty enough to eat and felt the new owners need to learn how to treat their customers.
FYI: I was never aggressive and have multiple witnesses to verify this. For a business to justify their behavior in such a way is completely inappropriate and unprofessional.

I am editing this review now. RIP to all the things that made this place delicious. Everything is different. I’m sad about the hot sauce and tortillas being different, the most. I will try again in a couple of months to see if they have settled in a bit more.
I order breakfast tacos from here every weekend for my husband and I. They are filling delicious. But they always only give us one of the “bigger” cups of salsa. Which is actually only like 2 ounces. So I ask for extra and they give me just 1 that is half the size. Every time. I don’t understand, make it make sense!
Edit: I get home to eat these tacos and they did not have hashbrowns in them. This happens about every other time. The base of the tacos is egg, cheese and hashbrowns per the menu.

Altered reality
Very busy small restaurant. Everyone one i saw seemed happy. It felt like everyone in the restaurant was sharing a secret. After I tried their breakfast burrito I knew it was made with love and caring. It was gooooood! Highly recommended. Was a short wait time because it was only a couple people running the whole thing. It was worth the wait. Can’t wait to go back and try other things from the menu.

We have been going here every chance we get for the last two years. Even through the change in ownership, the food has remained exactly as we love it! The service is always fantastic and Jessica is the sweetest and most responsive manager we have ever met. It is obvious every visit that our satisfaction is a major concern.

First, José was so warm and friendly -he set a fun tone for this superb lunch spot!
I had the Mexican enchilada. Mexican? Well, the designation notes a twist you would think is “fry crazy” American… as a matter of fact José, our engaging host explained the authenticity and history of this style of enchilada. It is slightly fried to give it a very pleasant crispy snap. I loved it! The excellent tortillas are made in house.
The other thing I was impressed with, was the rice and beans, which I usually end up leaving behind on my plate. Normally even in the good places you usually get rice that is dry, flavorless, and falls apart. Here, it was very moist and flavorful and I ended up eating almost all of it which is rare.
Instead of some pureed out of the can tasting refried beans the dish came with charro beans, that were also delicious and had a great texture.
I highly recommend this eatery of three decades as a great lunch spot. I see they also have breakfast breakfast options which I suspect are equally as good!

Machacada is sooo good! Im a bit disappointed in the medudo. It’s not the same recipe as the previous owners. It used to be dark brown and delicious, the best in the valley.
Staff is friendly and the owners are professional and attentive. I’ll be back for my favorite dish.

We would have been better off getting a Mexican TV dinner. Overpriced. Rice was hard around the edge like it had been microwaved too long. Dirty tables. The waitress sat at a table and played on her phone. Nobody was friendly. Will not be going back.

Went for lunch Oct 10/2025 & ordered the taco plate. Yes it took a little while to get our order even though the restaurant was not busy as I seen before. When we got our order the rice & beens were barely room temperature so when the waitress came by i mentioned to her my concern. She looked at me like what do do want me to do about it, I’d say very poor customer service not caring! That used to be one of my favorite places to go when we went to Caldwell. No More after today.
